I know that I have contributed thousands of dollars to Mimi's from breakfasts to dinners over the years. I have lived in the high-desert since 1988 and I can remember eating at the bar in the Rancho Cucamonga Mimi's Cafe on Foothill Blvd sitting next to the regional manager asking him if there was a plan to bring a Mimi's to the high desert. He said "there are no plans as far as I know." Well, I want to tell you there was one built within 18 months of me asking him that and boy was our family excited - the high desert was finally getting an upper scale restaurant to Victorville. For years our family has enjoyed Mimi's and especially my wife. We could always count on Mimi's and their reliable food and service. I have been a long-time fan of Mimi's Cafe, but I truly believe they are losing the edge on food quality, management, quality control, cleanliness and the quality of their hired help - food servers in particular. I realize that all businesses that survive on expendable cash have been suffering over the last few years and even Mimi's has been issuing food emailer discounts trying to entice people to get on their email list for discounted coupons and our family has taken advantage of these coupons. I have been a patron since this store opened, and over the years I have seen a significant turn-over in employees. There are few long-time employees, but most don't have the gleem on their faces or have the genuine pride and smile that previous employees use to and the willingness to bend over backwards to ensure your pleasurable experience at a Mimi's Cafe. I just hope they don't join the same wagon train with Marie Callender's who are sliding out of existence and that is unfortunate. At one time I would have given Mimi's 5-stars, but I truly believe they have retreated from their 5-star position and I know my family have had mae more negative comments walking out the door about certain things at Mimi's in the last year than we have ever had and that is sad, because we have always enjoyed Mimi's Cafe and could always count on their service, smiles, pride and variety on their menu that would always taste like home cooking. Our recent visit to this Cafe just reminded us of how things are deteriorating. I sure hope management can rebound from this slow deteriorating condition and make Mimi's Cafe a place that we knew it once was - a vibrant place with smiles, great food and service, cleaniless and a place where people can always count on for a great experience.
