The hotel is pretty and well maintained - but they do have a staffing problem.
Firstly, I made a reservation for 3 nights on Tallman's website and received confirmation. But, I received a phone call later that day telling me that they could only accomodate for 2 nights and didn't understand what happened! We arrived on July 4th and had a reservation for dinner at their Blue Wing Saloon at 7:30pm but the staff told us that, as THEY were all going to Lakeport to watch the firework display, we needed to hurry up and order as they were closing the kitchen at 8:00pm. They in fact closed the restaurant at 8:15pm and left us on the veranda to finish our meal - offering no desserts or drinks, as they had "tallied for the night". The hotel staff also closed the hotel before 9:00pm to go to Lakeport , we could gain access to the lobby with our key, but no satff was there to help us.
As there is only one restaurant in Upper Lake, we again went to the Blue Wing for dinner on July 5th, We arrived at 7:20pm and asked for a table - the restaurant was really busy with a staff shortage problem. We we finally seated at 8:15pm and placed our dinner order which arrived at 9:20pm - appetizers and entrees together. We did complan, and the manageress did aplogize and made no charge for the inedible cold food .
A truly bad experience.
