I have been staying at the Orchard Inn for over 5 years. I come to Ukiah to relax from time to time, unwind, get well rested, enjoy the sunny Ukiah valley, grab a drink or two at the local Club Calpella (A dive bar) and go motorcyclying up on Cow Mountain. I am a 75-100 night a year traveller that truly looks forward to staying here because its quiet, safe, well taken care of and dependably affordable. The staff is well trained, the breakfast is better than 80% of hotel continentals, the hotel is new and the rooms are spotless. The A/C is sometimes too cold (as it was last night) I turned it off for the night and I am a big man that always uses A/C. This place feels like home if you are tired, as you will wake up rested. My review is biased as I only like nice things.
Truly, I wish many people wouldn't know about this place so there are vacancies when I come, but after reading the untrue reviews, I thought I had to do some justice.
The Hampton Inn is close but much more expensive, the staff is rude and the rooms are 99% identical except for one piece of tile in the bathroom.
as fyi,
(I have stayed at 5 of the Peninsula Group hotels worldwide, I have travelled Asia, Central America and South America, staying at some of the most expensive resorts in the world. I am picky and want things clean and nice) The a/c WORKS

Below warnings all true: sure it's clean, but man, unfriendly staff (daytime), AC's that are more HEATERS than cool, and noisy guests (banging and slamming doors/drawers until late in the evening). Flip the switch from "auto" to "manual" under the AC housing unit to control the temp.
Sure, some of the below is true (new, clean, free internet and breakfast), BUT it was SO HOT. They have all AC's on "automatic" and it kicks off only seldom, leaving one to sweat in their room. HINT> take off the outside plastic cover of the AC unit and turn the switch to "manual" so YOU can control the temp! ALSO, it was quite NOISY on the main floor (up to 2am!), and when asked to move, the "manager" - the daytime, young male, not the evening middle-aged woman - was very rude and unaccomodating. If not satisfied after the first night, I suggest checking into the Quality/Value Inn next door - a bit old-fashioned, but clean, friendly staff (one even used to work at that Best Western!) and they can match or beat their rate!
Hi All:
The hotel is absolutely spotless. However, the fact that it was 105 degrees and the hotel does not allow you to manually operate the A/C unit in the room is horrible.
Also, the manager was very rude when we checked in when we asked for a second level room. His response to our question was that "I am not going to change anything and the hotel full tonight."
There were no pleasantries exchanged at this facility. Don't bother.
