“entertainment and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Food was excellent. We had an exceptional time there. It was affordable. The service was excellent. My car had a flat tire there and even the workers were kind and understanding. I went with my my mom and my son. We had a buy one get one free. The steak was extremely good. It was unforgettable. Everytime we see the name or pass by we comment to friends and people we know of how good it really is.

“STEAK HOUSE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Lone Star Steakhouse has a great 2 for $25 dinner menu. You can also get discounts by email when you sign up on their website. Make sure that you ask for the sweet potato (their specialty) with your meal. Lots of sides to choose from.

“Lone Star Steakhouse is all about great food and genuine hospitality in Tustin, CA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Coconut Shrimp (new menu item) is six coconut-breaded shrimp served with sweet pepper dipping sauce. This dish is all about the shrimp. The coconut and very little breading coated the outside and were fried to a perfect golden brown. The coconut flavor expertly complemented the shrimp by adding a slight sweetness. Texture was crispy on the outside with succulent, juicy shrimp on the inside. The dipping sauce was sweet but not too sweet with fresh, sweet bell pepper flavor. The presentation, however, needs a little work – either use a smaller plate or increase the serving to 8 shrimp to fill the plate better. Thumbs up!

Sweet Bourbon Salmon® is a tender, mesquite-grilled salmon fillet in Sweet Bourbon marinade and includes your choice of one side. The salmon had wonderful mesquite grill marks on the outside with a tender, succulent interior. The bourbon flavor came through and the marinade tasted slightly of Asian influence, like teriyaki and ginger. It worked really well with the salmon. Maybe a secondary sauce choice for the baby back ribs? Just an idea. The spinach was steamed to a bright green color and flavor. Thumbs up!

Did I mention that there is entertainment too? Every hour or so, the staff get into formation and start line dancing to specific songs that play in the restaurant. The Tustin location has a great group of employees so they really get into it and start hooting and hollering during the dance. If you glance around the dining, you’ll see smiling faces of guests as they watch and sometimes dance along in their seats. Gotta love that!

“Our go to place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

We have been going to the Tustin Lone Star for years. It has a casual, cozy, laid-backed saloon atmosphere. It is located 15 miles from our house and we go there for special occasions and when we get discounts via email. We joined their email club sometime back so receive coupons for $ off or free appetizer, etc. We have closer steak houses (including Outback-which we do not like) but this is our preferred steak place.

We always go for lunch and except for the occasional new wait person always have had excellent, friendly table service. My husband's favorite is a Texas Rose (fried onion), RibEye steak and a soda, mine is the Chopped steak with plain, sauteed onions and baked potato (always baked to perfection and good tasting) and fresh-brewed Ice Tea and, of course, the bread rolls. But, since we are on a budget, most of the time we get a Cheeseburger with Fries (The bread rolls are still served).

When the store went from locally owned to corporate owned a couple of years back the steak fries were changed and, though not as good as they used to be, they are still tasty. One thing that had changed was the "to die for" rolls. We, along with many other patrons, complained because those soft, yeasty, melt-in-your-mouth rolls are one of the primary reasons we keep coming back. The management acknowledged that they were working on this and after a few months they got the corporate supplier, that they now had to work with, to start carrying the old rolls. Crisis averted, we were able to continue coming to our favorite steakhouse and eating those scrumptious rolls.

They are currently in the process of upscaling their menu to attract more customers. When we recently took our moms there for Mother's Day, we found that the regular RibEye that my husband eats was no longer available, on the bone, but he still enjoyed it and everything else was same. I just hope they don't make too many changes and chase away old customers.
