“New Hotel - value ok - some stains”

I believe that the hotel has received excellent ratings because it is brand new. From that perspective, it was a little scary to see that our room already had stains on the carpet and scratches on the wall. However, all in all this hotel offered good value for a hotel in this category. BTW: there is a outlet shopping mall on the other side of the highway.

FIRST AND FOREMOST!! DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR PHONE INSTRUCTIONS!! If you punch a certain,... oh Hell, ANY number you WILL be directed to a voice that says... "911, WHAT IS YOUR EMERGENCY?" Oh my Jeebus, I had never freaked out so hard!

As Gramma's house was WAAY too crowded, we booked a two-night-stay with the "New Microtel!" Okay, yes, it is new, but no, you couldn't tell. As I got to my room on the second floor a large Golden Retriever met me in the hall. No leash, No master,... just a dog. "Here Joe!!" comes a disembodied voice from down the hall. "Comere Joe, Where ya at..?... Stop botherin' that girl, Joe, Comere..." Oh, My, GOD! They allowed dogs!!?? yeah my stupidity for not knowing that... well me OR the guy at the front desk to whom I inquired about my 6 lb. Chihuahua. Yeah. Niiiice..
Okay well I now get over my dog thing and head for the room. The key would not work. They apparently forgot to reassign it from the last user,... once again, nice:)
Alrighty, now, I'm in my room and... it's ...not bad! :)I crack the window open for a breeze and ... ... it's permanently locked... Okay,.. Well let's 'eff' with the thermostat... or....NOT!!! It was fake.
I swear to God, it had the ,supposedly, digital numbers painted on it! I go to further my qualm to the acting manager only to get this response.
"Oh! the thermostat on the wall IS just for looks. The small unit under the window works though..." O.O!!! Oh My GOD!! I swear!! I swear!!! Visit!! You'll see!!!
Now the small HVAC unit under the perma-lock window did work and kept the room a decent temperature. Now for shower time!!
First of all, get instructions for the shower. It took like 10 minutes to realize that you have to pull a lever INSIDE of the lower faucet to work the shower head. You know, the showerhead that DIDNT WORK!! It sprayed two streams to opposite sides of the tub flooding the damn floor. Why would it flood the floor you say? Oh! well, that's because the shower curtain was FALLING OFF THE --- WALL!! It was adhered with some quick-fix caulk it appeared... *uuughhh* anyway, next..?
Lets talk T.V. Good looking T.V. set. Odd placement at the top right of the room looking toward the center of the two beds though, no matter, SPONGEBOB's on!! After less than four minutes of watching this TV, I got nauseous. Thought it was the coffee from downstairs, so I decided to turn it off and sit on the window seat getting whatever fresh air could slip through the, literal, two inch opening..and... THAT IS NOT GOING TO WORK! You see the blood on the window seat was covered by a window-seat-pillow that I stupidly moved. Okay, so Window watching the view of a brick wall was now out as well. So I decide to try and sleep. Not bad beds but I DO have to tell you that I was too afraid to look for stains after the window seat and all the chairs. *gag* I am woken up to my roommate complaining of nausea. He was up watching the TV and had suddenly gotten quite sick. "Almost like motion sickness.." Odd I had felt that way earlier after watching the boob-tube... hmmm conflicting incidents?! I decide to ask the manager about a possibility of something leaking into the room. His first question was...
"*laughs* Were you watching the TV?"
"Oddly enough,.. yes, yes we were." I reply.
"Oh, yeah the Tv's at a weird angle. You have to lay in bed with your head on the pillows or it DOES MAKE PEOPLE MOTION SICK!!

WHAT THE ----!!!!

Okay, you want more war stories visit it yourself. Just go at your own risk!! I am trying to get some photos up, but hopefully this is enough to warn you with.
Good Luck and happi hotel hunting, My advice, if you're going to stay Tulare,CA, go to Comfort Inn, It's right down the street and could not be 1/2 as bad as this... :p

This hotel is brand new just opened not long ago.
Everything is in working order and very clean.
Good quality mattress and pillows.
Good quality breakfast.
Nice and friendly staff.
The only thing I dislike is the lighting in the room. They use white fluorescent bulb, which I don't prefer. I like yellow bulbs.

I stayed at this brand new hotel as Visalia was full. Delightful staff, great amenities and services. I loved the rooms, they are so new, clean, huge and have amenities much like a high upscale hotel. I will stay at this hotel every time I visit on business. Thank you!!!
