I have stayed here three or four times in the last four years, each time in the summer. I have always given it great reviews in the past. This time however I noted the propertry is beginning to show wear. We had two separate rooms, one for us (a couple) and one for the two teens. The beds were very firm, and not comfortable. We signed a no pet policy form yet we heard a dog barking loudly non-stop from inside a room. It was cooped up alone no doubt. I contacted the desk and they didn't seem to care, and said a couple of rooms were set aside for pets. The gutters were dripping (from the dew) onto our A/C unit, and it was so loud it sounded like someone banging a garbage can, so I got up in the middle of the night, walked around to the outside of the room, and placed a towel on the spot where the water was dripping to eliminate the metalic noise. The carpet was showing wear and tear, and the room door latch was loose, and you could pull the door a solid inch or more back and forth even when locked completely. I saw many people (myself included) having lots of trouble gaining access to the hallway from outside because swiping the room key seldom worked. Had to try it a half-dozen times every time. (all three keys-same thing!)
So having said that, I would suggest the maintenance staff not let this place go down hill, as it is such a good location, close to north shore Tahoe, and trail heads. The pool and hot tub area is nice with a vacation atmosphere, and trees. The Pizza Hut attached to the premisis is good, and the complimentary breakfast is excellent with many choices, including sausage, omlettes, dainish, muffins, toast, and more. The staff at the front desk need to be more personable, and at least pretend they care. They didn't seem friendly at check-in, and didn't care about the barking dog. On checkout there was no inquiry from them as to how our stay was, and not a smile to be found. We might check elsewhere in the future, but I will miss the complimentary breakfast.
