“Nothing to brag about...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

The room was clean, not very quiet. You could hear running water from the showers upstairs and noise in the hallway. Ask for an upstair exterior room for better view. Breakfast was included and had the normal faire.

Room Tip: Thought the cost was a bit high for the location, season and accommodations.

I usually stay at 3 hotels consistently when going skiing in Tahoe; Squaw Valley Lodge, Hampton Inn and Plumpjack Inn at Squaw.

Being that is late season and the ski conditions aren't so good I wanted to stay at the lowest price hotel since it was a quick 2 day trip and I was alone. The location of this hotel is prime, being centrally located in Downtown Truckee and within a 15 minute or so drive to Squaw, Alpine and Northstar.

The rooms were clean and reasonably nice. The king size bed was very comfortable and there is a great desk in the room for your laptop. The Internet is free and quite fast.

The TVs in the room are very old and quite small however. These could be easily updated for a low cost 32 inch flat screen.

The one thing that I noticed in the room was that there was a towel that looked a bit old, which stood out to me since hotel towels are always so clean and white.

The pool and hot tub area is so so and is nothing to rant about.

The gym seemed to be very nice although a bit small however it is in proportion to the size of the hotel.

Overall this hotel is pretty good value. The staff was generally friendly, especially the younger gals. There was one front desk woman who was a bit cold which is unusual in such a friendly town.

If your looking for a cheaply priced hotel for a quick weekend ski trip then this place will do. Hampton Inn is substantially nicer however it is a bit more expensive.

A fishing buddy and I spent 2 days here after "camping out" at Crosby's Lodge in a trailer at Pyramid Lake for three days with two other fishermen. Our stay here was refreshing. First, it was the lowest priced venue for April Fool's Day. Second, the room was spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable, beautifully clean and appointed with an assortment of pillow thicknesses to suit practically anyone. The room was spacious enough for our gear. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and surprisingly good. Each day we were able to eat scrambled eggs with breakfast meat, rather than the usual assortment of carbs. Coffee was excellent, if not gourmet. I noticed they cater to skiers, which probably was the reason for the protein in our breakfast diet. All in all, I would not hesitate to return here anytime for a visit. It will be our "go to" place in Truckee in the future.

This place SUCKED. The place was kind of grimy. No valet, no baggage help, they won't even tell you where the baggage carts are. Amenities suck, and they close the hot tub at like, 9. No in-room safe, and no safe behind the desk for my laptop, and they got VERY snippy with me when I asked. I kept having to find creative solutions to hide it in my room, and the front desk people were VERY rude to us, and refused to give us more than one key. Wtf? Really? The breakfast was OK, until we saw that the scrambled eggs came out of a bag. Gross. We were stoked about the coffee in the lobby when we came back from a day of skiing only to find that the lazy girls at the front desk hadn't bothered to refill it. The only redeeming thing about this place was the cleaning staff. All of their cleaning staff that we encountered were super nice and helpful and sweet, did and excellent job, and went above and beyond. Those people are probably totally underpaid too, so if you stay here, please make sure you tip your maids well.

Upon walking into the hotel, it is VERY warm and also has a STRONG smell of deodorizing product. Its a pet friendly hotel so I’m assuming that’s why the strong smell to cover up any pet smells. Check in and check out were quick and easy. They also offer water with lime in the lobby as well. Staff was friendly and we also asked for suggestions and directions for a nearby places to play in the snow and they happily complied.

Between the lobby and the restaurant there was a couple fridges where they were drinks, ice cream, and snacks for purchase at the front desk.

The complimentary Breakfast was okay. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, tortillas, salsa, fruit, yogurt, cereal, waffles, muffins, toast, juice, coffee, and cocoa. Pretty much the standard breakfast offerings. Although for a breakfast in a restaurant, I didn’t expect them to microwave their eggs, bacon, and waffles.

Our room was okay as well. It did smell of deodorizing product but wasn’t too bad. I really like that there was a microwave and dvd player in the room. They also did state that they had dvd’s to borrow. Although we had our own so I didn’t check out their selection. We were right next to the parking lot so we could hear people outside and the walls of the room were thin as well so we could hear people in the room next door and also the people talking in the hallway. I could also hear the dryer down the hall going as well. Loved the water pressure in the shower but the water temperature was an issue. It would fluctuate from cold and hot when I took a shower in the early evening but I didn’t have that problem when I took a shower in the late evening.

They also have a tiny pool where you won’t be doing laps but I guess a place to cool off in the hot summer of Tahoe? A jacuzzi was available as well, tiny. The one person in it pretty much took up all the space and he was a pretty small guy.

As far as restaurant options, there are several in walking distance right next to the hotel.

Got a great deal. Loved the location. Close to everything we wanted in Tahoe. Able to hit up downhill, XC, and snowshoeing within minutes. Several great eating options within walking distance (2 min). Makes it a great place to unwind after a full day on the slopes. Also, have a great breakfast. Continental, but they have different hot options everyday and really good coffee. Awesome way to fuel up for the day.

Nicely updated hotel. Staff was very pleasant and the continental breakfast was delicioius. Lots of options: waffles and peanut butter, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with fresh pico de gallo, and all your favorite bfast beverages (the non alcoholic ones anyway!).

Comfy beds and linens and the built-in clothes line in the shower was a convenient place to dry the swimsuits after a soak in the hot tub. A luggage cart was readily parked on every corner, making packing up that much easier.

By the way...the sushi place across the street is pretty yummy. And the drive to Northstar only takes 10 minutes!
