“What a great course! Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

What a picturesque course! So pretty and a good challenge too. Titleist hire clubs were great. Wasn't much sand in the bunkers so made it a bit difficult to get out and close to the hole. Loved the course! What a great day we had!

“Great Views - Frustrating Course”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2011

Old Greenwood could be a great golf course but it isn't. I'd recommend Shaffer's Mill in a heartbeat. Old Greenwood has a world class practice facility, beautiful views and fairways and is in great shape. So what's the problem? Jack Nicklaus! I don't know what Jack's staff was thinking but many of the greens slope away from the player and they have a couple goofy holes. I'm a 5 index and I played with a friend that is a 4. Both of us hit our drives 275 at sea level and Old Greenwood played long from the Blues (three trees). We had mid to long irons into many greens which would be okay but with many of the greens sloped away from player. We both thought it was like mini-golf. They have an uphill par 4 that plays 490 (about 440 at sea level) with a huge rock in the center of the fairway before the green. My friend hit his drive 290 and had a 200 yard uphill shot over the rock to a blind green. Get the picture.

We both scored well but all we could think about is the average golfer and how he would struggle trying to hit a five iron to a green that slopes away from him. What was Jack thinking???

My advise, Shaffer's Mill. Just as beautiful and far more playable.

“Relaxing Day at Old Greenwood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2006

A very relaxing experience. Not too hard not too easy. Risk and reward type of golf that is forgiving yet challenging. The cart lady was there evey couple of holes to make sure we were taken care of. Driving range had Titleist range balls, which was nice. Great service. I will be back for sure !!
