My husband and I played this course for the first time today and were disappointed. Tahoe Donner is a beautiful resort area but this course does not make the grade. The negatives of this course are: the fairways are in very poor condition, the rough is very tall and unkept, some of the tee boxes have no grass, the greens are ok but could use some TLC. Expect to play a 4 1/2 to 5 hour round. In the condition this course is in the rack rate of $125+ is not worth the price; go to golfnow.com and look for a reduced rate.
For a resort course it is very challenging, and the fairways are narrow and not forgiving. There are elevation changes but most of the holes play uphill.
The positives are this course is in a beautiful setting in the Sierra's among towering pines, meandering streams (when there is a snow melt or rain), granite rock formations.
This course was remodeled in 2006 and received a Golf Digest award when it reopened. Unfortunately, the course needs a lot of work to get it in resort playing condition.
