We have been to Moody's for dinner many times but recently went after skiing with two families to the bar for drinks and casual dining. It was wonderful! The teens loved the food and Charles Chaplin films being shown. We enjoyed the menu and actually stayed on until the dinner menu arrived (5 p.m.). The waiter was absolutely wonderful and made it inviting to spend the time, explore the menu and go through a bottle of wine, a few drinks and wonderful local beer. Instead of dinner we sampled a wide array of the first courses. Both the Beet salad and Citrus salad were very nice. We had the truffle fries covered in freshly grated cheese and herbs- which were wonderful with the Truckee beer. The regular fries were not only boring, but didn't taste terribly fresh and had been over fried. The Tomato Soup was just as wonderful as ever and the pastry had really puffed well. The special Chicken Tortilla soup was underwhelming. More of a Bisque with a couple of thin slices of avocado and two strips of tortilla chips. I think I would pass in the future. The Burger eaters were very happy - Enormous portions and no one finished theirs. The waiter recommended the veggie burger with bacon which one of the teens tried and loved! The Ahi apetizer was good but not astounding - presentation made it interesting, but it lacked much flavor beyond the aoli. The pizzas were all a hit. The Margarita was surprisingly wonderful with the addition of perfectly non-bruised fresh basil that just brought the pizza alive. The Duck liver pate was rather soupy, which our waiter handled beautifully by removing it from the menu and apologizing before I had said anything. It was a wonderful way to experience Moody's that makes it more flexible for families.
