“Great dive!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

After reading reviews for breakfast/lunch places in Truckee, we decided to give this place a try. Close to some great little shops in a classic American small town. We had to wait a while for a table but it was worth it. My husband had an amazing French dip, which you could tell they didn't cut corners on: fresh, toasted roll, perfect portion of meat and tasty au jus. Our son had the pancake/French toast combo and it was average: fluffy pancakes and good bacon. I had the BLT which was served on really good wheat bread. We didn't try what they seem to be known for - their omelets; but only because my husband and I were in the mood for lunch.

It always makes me sad when you go into a place like this and the service is sub-standard. Our order was taken and food was delivered quickly. However, they took the syrup from the table before our son was done using it because they were starting to clean up for the day. A little premature given it was only slightly past 1:00 pm and they close at 2:00 pm. They also dropped off the check before we were done eating, which I feel is always rude. After our check was dropped, we didn't receive any more service and had to flag down someone to bring us napkins. No drink refills and no "thanks for coming in."

If they could get service dialed in to meet the expectation that the article on the back of menu promises, I think this place could be a ton of fun.

“Fat Breakfast Grub and Worth Every Penny!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Go here and eat!The meals are huge; consider splitting a plate the first time you go and seriously tasty. Not the cheapest but damn good and worth every penny. The only thong I didn't like was the up-charge for onions w/ my breakfast potatoes. We were asked both times we visited if we wanted onions in our potatoes. Don't get me wrong; i will sure as hell be back to grub here.

“Hopping place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Fun crowded breakfast place. Lots of choices and good substantial food. A bit expensive though to take a big family crowd to but it's memorable.

“First stop on our Tahoe trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

I had recently seen the repeat of the Throw Down with Bobby Flay vs the Squeeze Inn and was desperate to try their omelets. Hubby and I have organized special Food Network trips to various cities in the country to try DDD's recommendations and the Squeeze Inn was on our list.

We decided we would leave early to drive up to Truckee so we can have brunch at the Squeeze Inn. The inn is located in downtown Truckee across the street from the Truckee Transportation Center. All the parking in downtown Truckee requires the meter to be paid so we parked down the street. The inn had outdoor seating so we were able to sit outside with our pooch in the shade and have our brunch,

Hubby ordered the Racy Tracy which was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay and I had the Holy Crab. Hubby said the Racy Tracy was awesome. It is the quintessential California Omelet with avocado, bacon, mushrooms and jack cheese. Cooked just right. I had the Holy Crab with a quarter pound of King Crab sautéed in butter with sliced green onions, then folded into eggs with monterey jack cheese, and topped with avocado and a lemon wedge. It was so darn yummy! The price for the Holy Crab was a bit high but I get it, you put in a 1/4 pound of King Crab, you gotta charge for that. Both plates had generous portions including country style potatoes, a choice of side of salsa or nacho cheese as well as toast with honey. Both plates were absolutely awesome and tied us over until dinner time.

There are plenty of choices for breakfast in Truckee and we were happy to have picked the Squeeze Inn for our brunch choice. Our omelet choices were awesome and we will definitely be back again. I can see why and taste why Bobby Flay threw down against the Squeeze Inn. Yummy to my tummy!

“Well worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

No matter how long you have to wait, DO IT!!! You won't regret the time investment. It will possibly be the best breakfast you will ever have. There are so many choices and each is delicious. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Atmosphere is very funky and will keep you entertained as you wait for your meal. Have been here many times and have never been disappointed. A visit to Truckee is incomplete without a visit to the Squeeze.
