We've eaten at Drunken Monkey twice and enjoyed the food overall. Black bean spareribs is very good and at 7 meaty ribs it makes a nice appetizer for 3 or 4 people. Tempura tasted fine but I like it crispy and when I held up the shrimp it bent in half. Tried several different sushi and the only one that was disappointing was the salmon skin hand roll. The salmon skin was deep fried so long that all I could taste was the burnt salmon skin so it was inedible. Other places would grill or bake the skin.
We ordered green tea ice cream for dessert and one of our dinner partners said "yuck" when the waitress suggested the beet ice cream. When she brought our ice cream she also bought a small scoop of the beet ice cream for us to taste. The guy who said "yuck" ended up eating half the beet ice cream. It was delicious.
Servers are very friendly and the ambiance is pleasant but it could get noisy when full because of the concrete floor.
