“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011 via mobile

Stayed during a summer weekend. What a beautiful resort! Accomodations are new and lovely. Room service for breakfast, accommodating and tastey. Our whole group took the gondola up the mountain for great hiking, while the teens road mountain bikes down. The village offers rollerskating and trampoline-fun! We barbequed at common-area grills and ate back at our condo unit.
Looking forward to returning in winter when you can ski right up to the condo, vallet your skis, and jump into the hot tub! Nice!

“Incredible suites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2010

Hyatt NS had GREAT suites for just a couple or for families. It was the off season so NS area was quite dead. But the resort itself was nice. Hot tubs were kind of gross. There were NorthStar Resort hot tubs and a workout center they shared with the Hyatt that were much better. Nice little porches with fire places. Don't come here looking for a view - it's a small parking lot and the NS village, but it's not ugly. Very friendly staff, comfy beds. We probably wouldn't stay again, for the sake of trying things new, but it's worth it. AWESOME private movie theather. A little drive from the Lake and Truckee, but not too bad. The only bad thing was there were no corner stores or grocery within 10-15 minutes. There's not even a vending machine - so prepared to bring some snacks. The rooms have great kitchens. Great TVs, furniture comfortability is suspect.

“Beyond the call of duty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2010

My wife and I stayed 4 nights 2/8 - 2/12 in a studio. It was very new, with a comfortable king-size bed, fireplace, small kitchen and shower (no tub unfortunately). The location was next to the Northstar village and walking distance to the slopes. The Ritz-Carlton gondola was right next door and provided great access to the Manzanita restaurant at the Ritz.

The staff was courteous and helpful, even more than we expected. On the last evening of our stay we ate at the Rubicon (great village pizza place) restaurant. My wife left her snowshoe gloves in the restaurant. We only realized the loss when getting ready to leave the next day. It was early morning with nobody in Rubicon so I decided to call them after arriving home. I called them, they had the gloves. I called the hotel and they said they would send someone to pick up the gloves and then mail them to us. We received the gloves yesterday.Thank you Hyatt!

“Great location, staff, and amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2010

We really enjoyed our stay this past weekend at the Northstar Hyatt. We received an owners discount which saved a bit of money but still ended up paying about $500 per night. I've always found these reviews helpful so let me pass on my 2 cents.

STAFF - extremely courteous, friendly, and willing to help. We stayed in a unit with a malfunctioning phone and TV however they were upfront about these issues and apologized profusely and in the end gave us a nice "thank you" note and bottle of wine.

LOCATION - at the base of the resort located in the Village. Great for familes as there are restaurants, an ice skating rink, and sledding hills on site....also the standard kid ski schools stuff. The gondola to the Ritz is also a nice activity if you have small children. Agree that there aren't specacular views per se but you are going there to enjoy the summer/winter activities and not stay in your room for that reason. The lower floors on the back side of the resort have views of the run/trail going down to the ski valet so I would try to avoid those. Also have access to a fitness center and heated pool in the next building over.

PRICE - If you are using points or are an owner and are booking at a dicounted rate then definitely worth the price. Comparable places in the village and the Ritz are considerably more expensive. As a non-owner best rates may be on expedia or other such sites when booked well in advance.

ROOMS - Clean, new, roomy. Nice features in terms of wooden floors, travertine, granite, surround sound and Viking appliances....fairly high end throughout.

Overall, great location, staff, and amenities. Would highly reccomend to anyone looking for a great ski-in/out type of place to stay.

“Resort prices not worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2010 via mobile

Why the low rating? Where do I start? First, there are many hotels in the village that are more convenient. As a diamond hyatt member my inclination is to go hyatt but I would not again. The ski valet is in a very inconvenient location-- you are hiking up or down stairs to reach it to/from skiing because they allow NO ski equipment in the place!!! I've skiied everywhere and I have never seen such a poorly thought out plan. Also, you do overlook the road and parking lot, you need to leave the building to go to the pool ... No food onsite AND no one will even deliver to the hotel!! The staff is very nice but even they cannot make up for this overpriced, poorly conceived and executed, building in the worst location in northstar village, if they are even in the village. I cannot believe the prices they charge.
