“Beautiful hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for one night on our way to Reno and found the hotel to be gorgeous, very well appointed and staffed and with great pool facilities. Wifi wasn't working and the attendant wasn't much help, but that was the only negative. BTW, when I stay at discount chains the internet is free and works great but at expensive hotels they charge and it often doesnt work well, what gives?!?!

We take the free gondola from the Village at Northstar up to the Ritz a lot and enjoy drinks and appetizers in the Living Room. It's a great place to catch a game or sit at the bar. There are lots of cozy places to sit around the fireplace as well. The property is beautiful and located in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Absolutely worth a trip up the mountain for a meal.

My wife and I kept calling this our "castle." I could post photos but it wouldn't explain how far up the mountain this property is. "Secluded" doesn't begin to explain the geography. So if you think you're going to run around the corner for a coffee, newspaper or bottle of water, that's not going to happen. But if you're OK with a classic resort setting (where almost all the services you could ask for are) then this is the place to be. The lobby is split into two levels, with the second level that's part living room, part bar, part breakfast nook. It nicely forces social interaction between guests. We got a great summer deal for our stay, $300 a night. If you can afford that, it's worth the experience. There's a nice hiking trail if you're there in summer; and plenty of ski lifts if you're there in the winter.

We stayed here over the 4th of July holiday and I can't wait to go back. This place is great for families and couples and there is truly something for everyone. The staff is amazing, the rooms are beautiful, the restaurant is great. I can't enough good things about this place. The hotel is very close to the village of North Star, so if you want to spend a weekend relaxing, there is no need for your car. I can't wait to go back in the winter!

This is an amazing resort! Loved it! - awesome Spa! Great service - nice food presentations in Club. The only negative is the restaurant Manzanitas - which is expensive and not that good - steak overcooked - pasta had no flavor. Also the service is not great considering the prices they charge. It is a pity since everything else is so awesome. Service (other than the restaurant) is truly 5 star! Stay here and eat somewhere outside the resort.

Top level hotel in the Lake Tahoe area. The hotel seemed very full with a conference, wedding and other events, but the hotel did not seem crowded and service did not suffer. Great lunch and breakfast at Manzanita. Did not personally enjoy the various activities the hotel had to offer – but had guests around me busily enjoying the facilities and hotel activities. We sat poolside with great service enjoying a beautiful day in Lake Tahoe.

Spa is superb and available to all guests. Food and drink service ordered pool side at spa or at family pool. Adult spa pool immediately adjacent to wonderful; spa with "Experiential" shower room with about 20 nozzles at various places, whirlpool tub with powerful jets, steam room and sauna. Service is impeccable at every level and all the time- very consistent. Kyle at the front desk especially stood out even in a field of such superlative staff. This is the place to stay in winter but it is also good for some pampering in summer even though about 15 mins from Lake. Great hiking and mountain biking right outside the door. Manzanita restaurant was excellent as well with great food and attentive staff.

Room Tip: Mountain and resort view rooms are actually equally nice though listed at different price points.
