“Best stay ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Just fabulous. I've been to many 5-star hotels before, and this is by far the best experience I've ever had. High-quality service, AMAZING suite, and great restaurants. If any one is looking to have a vacation at Lake Tahoe, definitely stay here!

“What a lovely surprise, once we got to it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

Was really looking forward to checking out this property since reading about it online. It was off season, end of the summer, so it wasn't too busy. I love staying off season as you get a better price and hotels aren't as crowded as they would be in peak season.

This property is tucked away in the woods at the top of a hill at the end of a LONG driveway. Very secluded but worth every minute of the drive. There is a gondola that runs from the property to the village at Northstar. I was only running Friday afternoon thru Sunday the time of year we were there and we didn't get a chance to ride in it. Instead, we utilized the house car (Cadillac Escalades) to take us and pick us up from the village. We had a very nice young man that drove us each time. Turns out he is from our home town in the the Bay Area. Always fun to find someone from your hometown on vacation. Due to it being off season, the house cars were readily available with little advance notice. LIKE!

Our room was a standard room that overlooked the gondola and the RC Residences. See photos. Room was very comfortable and the kids and I enjoyed it completely.

Spent time both days at the pool...poolside service was consistent. Drink and food choices we ample. Many families with children at the pool which made it nice for my two children. Early evening they had a Smoreologist at the firepit teaching the kids how to make s'mores and they fixings were complimentary. Kids totally loved it! As the Mom...I thought the timing was off as it was just before dinner time. Oh well, while on vacation...we tend to bend the rules.

Overall, lovely property and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Would prefer a room with a more scenic view...next time I'll ask ahead.

“Fabulous Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

The drive up the mountain to 7,000+ feet elevation is an adventure of itself and builds the anticipation of what may well be the nicest place you'll stay. The staff is ready and waiting to serve your every need and the hotel is not at all "stuffy" like some luxury 5-star properties often are. It was very comfortable surroundings and the rooms were quite roomy and comfortable.

Although we were there during October when there was no snow on the adjacent slopes, it was a rare opportunity to venture outside the hotel and hike the paved slopes for an amazing vista of the surrounding area and looking down onto Lake Tahoe.

The resort services and amenities were amazing and made the stay very enjoyable. You did not feel at all isolated, especially because you could ride the gondola down the mountain to the village of Northstar. But everything you could have wanted was right there at the resort.

I can't wait to take my family back there for some skiing and additional sightseeing in the area.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the courtyard and the ski slopes rising above the hotel.

“Luxurious Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Our 2 nights at the Ritz Carlton in early October was a luxurious comforting stay that provided us an escape from all the hustle and bustle of life. The rooms were spacious and we had wonderful views of the property. There were activities to keep everyone happy including the 4 year old in our party who thoroughly enjoyed the Smores activity and Frisbee golf. The Manzanita was an excellent, if not indulgent, choice for dining, but since we were celebrating a significant birthday it was just right. To sum up the success our memorable stay, the youngest member in our party said, "Let's come back to Lake Tahoe!" Thank you Ritz Carlton!

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms.

“Love this resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Amazing lobby, rooms, service etc as would be expected at a Ritz Carlton. We stayed 3 days in mid September so it was practically empty which was so peaceful. Due to its secluded location, we ate every meal there and the food was amazing...dinners were some of the best we've ever had with a terrific server. Additionally, the spa is one of the nicest I've ever seen.
