Stayed at One Village Place for the New Year's holiday. Very nice and upscale units in the best location. I cannot say enough about the benefit of being in the Gondola building on a busy holiday weekend. There is ski storage next to the Gondola line, and you have your own personal line which goes to the front just for this building so no waiting. A huge perk since Northstar seems to be a bit overcrowded for the size of the mountain. Ski school drop-off was also right outside the door in front of the Chocolate Bar which was fantastic. The condo was perfect for a family of four, with one bedroom and two bathrooms, a pull-out couch and a small den with a small bunk bed. The kitchen was well stocked. Fitness room and hot tubs were nice as well. There is a small front desk and lobby area with coffee. I think this is the best location in the Village. There is also access to the village fitness center and pools which are quite small but have a small locker room with two showers and a lobby area with a pool table. We went a few times but could not shower after as there were only two showers and a huge number of kids running in and out of the steam room. I would not have wanted to be on the ice rink, as there were large crowds and bands everyday which would be really noisy if you wanted any downtime. Northstar is nice, but it seems with the addition of the new housing in the village there needs to be some expansion on the mountain. We have never spent so much time in lift lines. There is really only one way to the very top and it takes a gondola ride and two lifts so everyone is in the same line at some point. That is a real drawback when your only option for travel is on busy holidays. Great fireworks show on New Year's eve and the cabanas surrounding the ice rink are nice. People do camp out a bit, which can be annoying. The Starbucks is all but impossible to get into after 2pm - line wraps around twice and we actually saw people sleeping on the lounge chairs inside???
