“Good service, average food, huge servings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

We stopped here for dinner and ordered a very rare burger for him, a shallow-looking "Souper Bowl" of chowder for me (it looked smaller than a bread bowl) and a Caesar salad each.
The helpful waiter said the salad was very large and suggested we share it, and we agreed. It was served, with forks, in the middle of the table.
The burger arrived medium-well done and was sent back for another try (which was perfectly done).
Meanwhile, my soup was nicely seasoned, very thick and piled so high that we put the bowl in the middle of the table where we could share it until the burger arrived.
All in all, it was nothing special, but it kept us alive for another day.

We really appreciate our visitors from Coastal Oregon and are grateful to have had the chance to redeem our serving of your rare hamburger order and glad you enjoyed it.

Part of the Trinidad Bay Eatery chowder dining experience is, if you will, to pile it high so that it cascades over the edge of the serving dish; whether it be a cup or bowl, and we do serve it thick.

We appreciate you sharing your dining experience with the Travel Advisor community and hope we see you again when you come back to Trinidad.

“Average, not bad”

Chowder was ok, calamari ok, crab cakes very good, crab Louie salad good, service over taxed, should have had another server on board to help. Wished it was better.

Thank you Michael for sharing your Trinidad Bay Eatery dining experience. We where caught in a bit of a rush and are sorry it slowed our service to you.

I know a great dining experience can be sullied by less than stellar service, so we hope you'll give us another try when you're in the area. We appreciate your business.

“Just all around good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

No doubt one of the best places we ate at during our road trip in California. Great atmosphere in a small seaside community. Recommend the clam chowder and the homemade blackberry cobbler. Burn off the desert with a hike down to the beach.

“Positive Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

We chose this restaurant by convenience as it happened to be kitty corner from our B&B in Trinidad Bay. Our expectations were not that high having looked at the menu and setting. But then we were greeted by a really pleasant team radiating a down to earth enthusiasm. It seemed their ambition was to show some random tourists from Europe that, yes you can get a really good dinner in small town Northern California!

So we got carried away by the specials (not on the menu) and with some encouragement from other local patrons ordered fish (Steelhead) and vegetables (Okra) we had never heard of let alone eaten before. This was all prepared and presented in a really creative and colorful way with chutney sauce and other delicious sides (included in the meals).

We ended up eating way to much - as the plates were just loaded and we could not stop ....

The team were really curious how we liked it all, even with the Chef coming out to see how we found his cooking. They deserve a big "thumbs-up" for creativity and a warm, positive approach.

BTW: We had not asked the prices of the specials when ordering - however, there was no "sticker shock" at all. The specials were priced in line with the regular menu which seemed really fair to us.
