The Hilton Torrance had its good and bad points. The hotel had ample parking and was close to a variety of restaurants, not to mention to the very disappointing del amo fashion center (the place is dirty and just plain smells in parts.) A common complaint I have with hotels is with the air conditioning, and the hilton torrance is no exception. The AC would not turn on until the room hit about 75 degrees, and would shut off at around 70. My first night I arrived late and complained to the front desk who to their credit promptly sent a maintenance person up (at 11:00 pm). Unfortunately, he explained the AC was working as designed. That alone is enough for me not to recommend this hotel. The room was dirty (stains on the walls and ceiling) and that and the bathroom were on the small side. One night I attempted to eat at the hotel restaurant (at around 7:00pm), but found the place devoid of any employees. After walking around and waiting ten minutes, I left. Room service was quick although the food was average at best. One positive note is that there was always a security guard in the lobby. In the end, I would not stay at this hotel again.
