A smaller neighborhood brewpub with good food and drink, Red Car Brewery is a less visible member of the Los Angeles beer scene. Tucked away in the suburb of Torrance, Red Car brews beer onsite and serves some tasty food in the midst of a casual atmosphere.
Red Car Brewing is a laid- back place and upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the smell of wood and metal and it reminded me of an industrial warehouse. It wasn’t bad at all, but in fact rather interesting and fitting. The brewery named itself after the famous California red cars that used to be so commonplace and the unusual first impression of industry, due to the scent, seemed just right considering the brewpub’s theme.
The menu selection at Red Car Brewery isn’t very large, but there is enough available to satisfy. Foods are divided among appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, and pasta and there are several worthwhile options. I decided to go for a burger because it seemed like the best food to pair with the beer. It was very tasty and, as predicted, it proved the perfect item to eat while sampling a platter of beer.
Speaking of the beer, this is the reason many people will want to visit Red Car Brewery and it is, indeed, reason enough to stop by. I tried each of the five items on tap and my only disappointment was that they didn’t have more beers on tap. The menu listed them, but there was none available. This was a disappointment, but it didn’t ruin the day. I was still happy with my small samples of the five beers they had on tap and I liked them all.
California is overloaded with breweries and Red Car Brewing is certainly one worth visiting. Stop by for lunch or dinner, sample some beer, and learn more about this brewpub and its many tasty food and drink offerings.
