I stayed at the Country House Inn during the last weekend of September and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was clean and cute, and granted, it doesn't offer all of the amenities of a nice hotel room, (ie, bring your own shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer, plus no TV), but I was still very comfortable. The property is quaint and cute. The proprietress, Dianne, is wonderful and friendly. Breakfast is about as delicious as it gets. A couple warnings, however. First, Templeton is an extremely sleepy little town. There are a couple of restaurants but it's mostly a ghost town after about 9pm. If you're looking for more action you may want to try San Luis Obispo a little further south. Also, you must check in early, during normal business hours. No late check-ins here. After about 9 or 10 PM, all business lights are turned off, and the house can be next to impossible to find if you don't know the location well. No address or business sign can be seen from the road. After dinner my first night there, I passed it twice and was terrified I was driving into a private residence before I realized I had finally arrived. A wonderful little place, but not for partier/night-life types.

While this wasn't a terrible experience, we were dissappointed by the room. The actual experience didn't match the website pictures and description. Also the room was missing a few ammenities like a hair dryer and shampoo.

It also looked like they were behind on the overall maintenance of the property. The breakfast was good.

This was our second stay at the Country House Inn. We spent 2 nights each time. This place is charming, beautifully decorated and in a great quiet location. The hostess, Dianne Garth is a great cook and a really nice person to get to know. The Inn is beautifully decorated. We are already planning our 3rd stay in April when we will arrive by train to Paso Robles and drive the short 6 miles to the Inn. From there we plan on driving over the hills to San Simeon and then down to San Luis Obispo for the Farmers Market.

We went to Paso Robles for the 4th of July. I saw the ad of the Country House Inn in the internet and looked appealing. The accomodations were horrible. The temperature was very hot that week (110 degrees) and the room was a small bungalow outside. There was no air conditioning and the windows had no screens in them. I complained to the Innkeeper Dianne Garth, and she told me to open the door in the back and the windows, but there was no screens in either one. It was a very unsafe condition. When I complained about that she got on the defensive. With 85 degrees at night, my wife and I were not going to sleep with doors and windows opened and swetty, So we left and found another hotel that was more accomodating. This woman had the nerve to charge my account anyway. So, If you want to have a pleasent trip, STAY AWAY FROM THERE!
By the way, the photos in the internet must be from years ago.

We met a bunch of friends here and had the whole place to ourselves, renting out all five rooms. The beds were all comfortable, the rooms sweetly decorated, and we very much enjoyed our stay. There is a nice little sitting room and we spent our nights hanging out there, playing games and drinking wine. Breakfast was wonderful both mornings we were there -- Diane is an excellent cook. It's five minutes from Paso Robles and it's on the same street as McPhee's in Templeton which serves up a wonderful dinner. If your goal is to spend time wine tasting and relaxing at a little B&B, I highly recommend Country House Inn.
