“Clean/Comfy hotel for a one night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2009

The hotel is renovated, rooms have very comfortable beds. Bathrooms feature granite-type walls and countertop, new massage showers, TV, fridge, microwave. It includes continental breakfast with pancakes, juice/coffee, yogurt, cereal (it was a joke breakfast ends sharply at 9:00am even on weekends). The reception area has a beautiful marble floor and looks shiny and impressive. Everything was clean. The only problem was very close proximity to the freeway. Basically every room faces sideways to the freeway and you can still hear to vehicle noise at night once windows are not completely sound-proof (if you sleep well without problems you will be fine, otherwise you may have a hard time relaxing). Also there is no tourist attraction around the hotel so you definitely need a car (Old Town Temecula is 10 minutes away – the wine country is a 20 min drive). I found Temecula hotels in general very overpriced, you pay around 40% more for same quality chain-type hotel as in Lake Elsinore (15 miles away). If you are just looking for a place to crash at night, I would suggest looking for neighboring cities, once there is nothing you will miss staying near a freeway in Temecula or else where.

Highway noise and indifferent staff

A big, clean two-queen room with a fridge and microwave -- and the price was right, but we won't be staying here again.

Reasons for our poor rating:

(1) Unacceptable highway noise. I-15 is very close, and the traffic never stops. The build quality of the doors and windows was not adequate to keep the noise level in our room at anywhere near an acceptable level. This applied particularly to our third floor non-smoking room on the north side of the property -- but would likely apply to almost all rooms.

(2) Unkind staff. The attitude of the front desk guy was somewhere between indifferent and actively hostile. If you accidentally choke in his presence -- don't expect him to perform the Heimlich maneuver, at least not if there is an interesting re-run playing on his TV.

(3) Poor cleanliness in the laundry room. Also: no chairs, and prices for supplies double what we have paid elsewhere...

(4) Apparently some sort of major construction occurring immediately adjacent to the property, involving excavation, concrete pouring, etc. No real impact on our stay -- but it certainly lowers the overall tone of the place.

Slightly positive aspects:

(1) Good choice of eatery franchises along the Jefferson Avenue strip...

(2) In-room wireless internet access was solid. There also appeared to be a guest-accessible desktop in the lobby, but we didn't try it.

Signing off at 3:00 a.m., fully awake due to the traffic noise. We won't be sampling the breakfast -- just want to escape as soon as possible from this hotel and the infernal traffic racket...

  • Liked — Wireless internet access is solid
  • Disliked — Noise from I-5 is intolerable

I did not have great expectations. My expectation were met. The room was clean. There was a microwave and refrigerator --- always a plus. The room was otherwise sparce. The television could have used a better connection. The mattress was uncomfortable. There was plenty of parking and places to eat nearby. I was not bothered by outside noise.

Hotel was okay - clean. Breakfast room dark - blinds never open. Food items ran out and were not restocked in a timely manner. We were asked to leave the breakfast room because of a meeting even though it was 8:45 and breakfast is served until 9:00. Location was convenient, there were restaurants right across the street. Exercise room not located on site but across the highway from the hotel.

Spent one night here in July 2002 prior to taking an early morning balloon flight. It was OK for a stopover, but not for an extended stay. Breakfast included make-your-own waffles, but the small breakfast room was packed. Small pool at rear of hotel hadn't been cleaned out for a while (it was covered in leaves). Okay, but nothing special, and certainly not as good as it looked in the photos.
