“Great Bed, but everything else was very average”

Pechanga Resort and Casino

First of all, let me say that Pechanga has the most comfortable beds I have EVER slept in. Well, we only slept in one, but I assume the rest are the same. If you are looking for a good night sleep, this is the place! The hotel is attractive - both in the casinos, dining areas and guest rooms. I loved our guest room! The food was so-so - we only ate at the buffett, and we got about what we expected for a casino buffett.

We visited on a weeknight, and there was NO entertainment during the week. I've heard weekends can be fun and there are lots of things going on - but it is DEAD on weeknights if you are not a gambler. The worst thing about Pechanga was how unhappy their staff is, over all. Don't get me wrong - everyone we had contact with was very nice and welcoming to us as guests. However, several members of the staff (bartenders, etc) expressed their unhappiness working at Pechanga, and how the hotel was NOT good to work for. (Unsolicited, by the way.) We spent the next night at nearby Pala Casino, and the staff there seemed to love their jobs...

Overall, if there was a concert or some special event happening at Pechanga, I would happily return and sink back into that comfy bed. But I would not go there just to go.

“Disappointing Visit”

First off, let me say that my husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years, and have had some great experiences--that's why we opted to get a room there following a show for which we had purchased tickets. Upon arrival, I checked in to our room. Valet and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I made my way to the room on the 4th floor, and was disappointed with it, in comparisonm to the well-appointed rooms we have gotten in the past. The room was loud, with music coming from a common area below, but the biggest issue (at that point) was the bed, which was terribly uncomfortable and sqeaky. I met my husband and friends for dinner at Kelsey's--OK dinner, but not remarkable--later, we went to the show and then I broke away for some gambling (terrible luck on the slots). Upon return to the room, we tried to fall asleep, but instead were kept up by screaming partiers and slamming doors. We tried to call the front desk, but our phone did not work. After about two hours of this, it was 2am we decided to pack our bags and drive home. While nice, the front desk staff did not offer to refund our money or offer us another night--just reduced our rate from $179 to $129. The front desk manager did not even come out...just relayed info to us through desk staff. We asked to speak to the manager on duty, who suddenly was able to find another room for us with a king bed. But, by this time it was almost 3am, after waiting for almost an hour, and we were resigned to driving home. Disappointing stay, and we will likely not return unless the manager calls this week and makes good on our awful experience.

Pechanga Resort impressed us - and we are frequent travelers. We were upgraded from a hotel room to a suite as we arrived late. The suites are very nicely decorated and the color/pattern/etc. showed supieror interior decoraton at its best. The service - it was excellent without being "in your face" and the best experience we have experienced in the past year. This would have been the case even if we had not been upgraded due to our late arrival. The resort is amazing - we were there during its earlly construction stages and were back for our second visit. While during our first vist it was "no bother", our second visit was outstanding. The resort itself is quite nice. There are many different type of places to gamble/play - very nice for an urban California casino -about 90-95% of what you get in a Nevada casino - so they're very close to being a resort to visit without having to drive all the way to Vegas. The food choices were good and except for the seafood grotto (which was way way overpriced) reasonably priced and good food. We don't know if the seafood grotto was good, as the price tag immediately dismissed all thoughts of eating there as it was overpriced to peer type restaurants. Pechanga is in a growing residential area and close to many attractions including Palm Springs, Disneyland, San Diego, Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Temecula area wineries - all within an hour or two drive. So its a reasonable place to stay for a Southern California Vacation. (Note; its not a good place if you are mainly interested in the West side or Hollywood.) All in all - a great stay! (Note: We were there when the prices were reasonable - over Christmas week - it looks like some of the 3 day holidays in 2007 the place is overpriced - so do look for timing if staying here is one minor note of caution. The "free" valet parking is a nice surprise....although one does tip the valets still.

My wife and I love this hotel, we go at least twice a month since it opened. The restaurants are very good with the Blazing Noodle being my favorite, and not a fan of the italian rest or Kelsey's. The hotel also has great first class shows and a very good casino that will ultimatly take my money, but does let me have some fun lasting most of the evening, and even sends me home with a W2 now and then. We live only 15 miles away but after a night of playing, partying we take them up on the comped rooms which you can earn quite quickly in the players club. Put this place on your list.

I stayed at Pechanga for a two day conference. Since I checked in late due to my travel schedule, I was unable to get the standard non-smoking room that I requested. However, I was able to get a jacuzzi room that had a sofa bed.

Positives:
* Service was great. All the staff was very friendly and had answers to all my questions.
* Check In and Out was quick and easy.
* Large bathrooms
* Large jacuzzi in the room.

Negatives:
* Cigarette smoke in the lobby.
* No food vending machines ( They do have soda vending machines though ).
