“One of the best wineries in Southern California”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Although we've had great experiences in the past with two or three wineries that we know well in the Temecula area, we thought this trip we would visit a couple of wineries that would be new to us. The first one we tried proved to be the worst wine tasting experience we have ever tried, but as we were leaving (without even bothering to finish our tasting), our son-in-law found out about Doffo Winery from a limo driver that was waiting for his clients to finish their tasting. On the limo driver's advice alone, we set off for Doffo Winery where we had an awesome tasting experience.

It turned out that our tasting was personally conducted by the winery's founder, who proved to be very entertaining, but also very knowledgeable about the wine. He is of Argentinian descent and when we asked what brought him to America, he said, "Pictures of dead Presidents." He then pulled out a wad of $20's to make his point.

The winery specializes in bold red wines, our favorite. Although the wines may be priced higher than many of their winery competitors in the area, the tasting proves the point that you definitely get what you pay for at Doffo.

Our favorite wines at Doffo (and the ones that drew us into their wine club membership despite the fact that we thought we were in enough wine clubs) were as follows:

1. The 2009 Tiarella (far and away the best wine we've had in Temecula, but a bit pricey at $89/bottle (club price).
2. The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve
3. The 2011 Unfiltered Syrah
4. Their 2009 Vinosanto dessert wine was amazing.

Although tasting wine is the primary reason to visit this winery, it is also a great spot to see the founder's extensive motorcycle collection. We were also very impressed with the tastings offered of Italian Wedding soup prepared by the founder's daughter, who was also serving wine tastings the day we were there.

Next time you're within miles of Temecula, I highly recommend a stop at Doffo (along with stops at both Wiens and Palumbo wineries.

“Good wines”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

The wines were good, but I agree with a previous poster who said the motorcycle exhibits take away from the room in that there is a very distinct smell of rubber in the room. It mixes in with your nose while tasting wines. The staff was really attentive and gave extra pours. I would taste the wines on the outside patio.

“Not your typical winery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Winery is family-owned and run, with the family still working the tasting room. it is definitely one of the smaller wineries in Temecula, but it's one of the more personable ones. We read reviews complaining that they are pricey, but you have to remember that they're not mass producing a ton of different wines. Its a musy visit if you're looking for a smaller personal touch and if you're a ducati lover.

“Motorcycle aroma”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

The place is decorated with old motorcycles inside and out. I think they belong out definitely. When I walked in all i could smell were the rubber tires. It was so overwhelming that I decided not to stay for the tasting. I felt the the smell of tire rubber would interfere with the enjoyment of the wine.
