We visited 3 wineries (all tastings are included and some places offered discounts because we were on the tour), had lunch, got a tour of a barrel room with some interesting information about the wine making process, got to taste grapes in the vineyard, and took a little off-roading excursion. It was a lot of fun and seemed like a great value for the price.
Travis was our guide, and he called us about a half hour before the tour to introduce himself and check in with us on his timing. We actually turned out to be a few minutes late for the tour, but he was accommodating and patient with us. He was a great guide all around-- funny and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the wineries and wine. He explained that most of the guides for the company were at some point in their lives involved in wine making; he was an assistant wine maker at one of the vineyards in the area and some other guides were either wine makers or worked for one of the wineries. This makes for a great tour, because they know a lot more about the area, the wineries, and wine in general than your average tour guide. He also made everything easy to understand and relate-able, so you don't have to be a wine-connoisseur to follow along.
It was also a great tour because it was just us and another couple, so we had a lot of personal attention and it didn't feel like we were just a large group being herded from one place to the next. The tour moved at a good pace, too. We weren't at any one place for too long, but we also didn't feel rushed. When we were at our first winery, another tour group came after us and left before us, which I felt was not enough time to really enjoy the wines and the setting, so I was glad that I wasn't with that tour. Sunrider has really set the bar high for wine tours. I don't know if another tour could be this great!
