Came here when visiting relatives in nearby Pahrump, NV as part of a Death Valley junction outing to buy California lottery tickets for my dear auntie! You are close to the border with Nevada here as this is CA. This was quite an intruiging journey down a winding road, fortunately my uncle took us there, as I don't think we would have found it that easy. He's a regular!
We tried the date shakes made with delicious icecream, we tried, tasted and bought several types of dates, a tasty date loaf and several types of honey including Sage Honey. Prices seemed to be very reasonable on this working farm. The date products were great souvenirs of our trip but did not last long!.
There was also an interesting junk shop on site where you could buy all sorts of bric-a-brac; both ancient and modern. I had a good browse around there for at least an hour. I think next time I would like to try and stay at the teepees based at the site (run by Cynthia). It was very interesting to see the date palms growing in this mystical oasis formerly known as Chinamans creek.
Well worth a detour for the tasty treats and lush greenery in the Mojave desert!
