“Great Place To Camp!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

I went camping here with 2 of my cousins and my brother. It was an awesome place to camp. It was very open though, not much space or privacy between each camp site...but that didn't matter to us. we were campsite T4 so we were right next to the bathrooms. At first we were worried that there was going to be a smell but there wasn't. the bathrooms and showers we incredibly clean and updated, they even had automatic sinks. the people were pleasant there too, a little loud but they're just having a good time. the only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was there were not many trash cans at all, we had to walk all the way across they sight by the marina to throw things away in the dumpster. also because it was so open, every time a car drove through at night our entire tent lit up. the beach is great in the evening and morning but during the day the place is packed. the marina is also right there and we were able to rent a peddle boat for all four of us to peddle around in...there are also paddle boards, boats, jet skis, etc. to rent as well. it was very nice to have. the camp site is in a great location with many things a short drive away to enjoy....i recommend staying here. its a great place with friendly people!

Room Tip: Tent sight T4 is very nice and convenient, close to bathrooms and beach...you can actually see the w...

My family has been coming to the campground which is just across the marina since the 1940's when the forest service owned it. We stayed here recently, and the Resort part is really nice. When my folks were coming to this area to camp, we always thought of the cabins as the "Rich people" part. Now we stay here, but don't feel "rich". they have several cabin type structures, and some almost apartment like places near the beach. We stayed in one of those, and what vacation. It was probably one of the most relaxing times I had on a vacation. There really isn't anything to do other than relax. The kids had a great time on the beach and going in the lake. they could go exploring over on the other side beach. It was just a great time. South shore is also right down the Hwy if you want to go for a nice dinner or go gambling. It sure has changed a lot since I was coming here in the 70's, but the relaxing part of it has remained.

We camped there with a tent trailer. The location is amazing. Beatiful beach. Restrooms and showers looked new and were very clean. Hot water was incosistent, though. Could be hot and wonderful, but at time was plain cold. Beware you need to buy coins to use the showers, and coins are sold only at the resort's general store that closes 4:30pm. Wi-fi is expensive too. We will come again

Two families with 3 teenagers spent two great nights camping over the labor day weekend. The beach was lovely and having the marina right there where you could rent paddle boats, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, or ski boats was wonderfully convenient. I was very surprised by the negative review above because our experience could not have been more different. Every staff person was helpful from the check in to the marina people. The restrooms and showers were cleaned regularly. They came around with a flyer to tell us about a free beading class and our two girls enjoyed it and brought back lovely bracelets they had made. The general store was convenient and the snack bar had a great view. What was not to love for $25 a night?

Room Tip: the resort has cabins and lodges as well as tent campsites and RV sites

Stayed at Meek's Bay for 3 nights in an RV. We had plot R2 which is close to the toilets & showers & very close to the beach. Site was very clean and the toilets were cleaned daily to a good standard & kept clean. Didn't use the showers as we had the RV, but they looked very clean & are "wet room style" so spacious.

The beach is wonderful & Lake Tahoe a pleasure to swim in, so clear & clean although a little cold! You can hire speed boats , canoes or paddle boards from the marina at Meek's Bay although we didn't get round to it unfortunately. The scenery is beautiful as you face the Nevada mountains and have pine trees all around you. A snack bar on the beach serving beverages & snacks like burgers & nachos etc at pretty good value. Ducks & Canadian geese walk around the beach which is quite bizzare as your mind is continually fooled as you think you are sitting on a beach by the sea!

The staff were very friendly & really helpful. We had run out of fire wood one evening & there was none in the shop but the staff delivered us some to out plot - no hassle at all.

There is a bus that stops outside the resort & you can travel around the lake with ease. Make sure you hop on it & go for a meal at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay - absolutely beautiful lake front restaurant. They have a very interesting drinks menu where you can order a range of Wet Woody drinks & the food menu is excellent too.

The temperature drops dramatically at night so take a jumper - remember you are at an elevation of 7,000 feet! You are also in bear country so all rules about food & smellies in bear boxes apply. If you are in an RV though you can leave everything inside it as long as you draw the curtains.

I will definately return & next time will stay in one of the cabins or lodges that are here too. The cabins have balconies that hang over the waters edge - just beautiful.

Holy smokes! What a terrible resort! Evil....truly evil staff. Worst camping evperience EVER due entirely to staff from dock boys all the way up to hostile management. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! The boss came to our site at 9pm at nite and harrassed my wife and kidz and told them we had to move to another area only there was no where else to go! Then called us liars and told us that because of forest service regs we could not stay in the overflow site they appointed us to. Took our money then told us to get out. Will go down as a traumatic stay for my family. Think i have grounds to sue!

I have camped at Meeks many times over the last 20yrs loved staying with friends and family due to the beautiful beach. But ever sence the older couple that used to run the reservations and store left the place has gone way down hill! The bathrooms are so dirty, toilet clogged showers cold! Not fun taking a cold shower after a day on the lake... way to much trash around the campsites left. (shame on you to those who leave trash in Tahoe.) who ever is taking care of this amazing spiritial peace of land, shame on you too! for not caring about this land! I wish this was a state owned park so at-least it would be taken care of.
FYI for travelers to the area,Sugarpine is a great place to camp and CampBliss is very beautiful too!
Frankly i really dont think the camp host even read this stuff.
PLEASE START TAKING CARE OF MEEKS BAY, DONT LET THIS PLACE BE NEGLECTED ANY LONGER. CHARISH IT LIKE A FINE GEM...
