This motel meets basic requirements cleanly and effectively, but no frills. It was nice, however, to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. My daughter loved the pool, but it looked like it needed a bit of TLC since it was missing quite a few of the tiles around the inside edge.
The room was clean, and each room seems to be decorated slightly differently with various bedspreads, etc. Housekeeping was efficient and very good--and I'm usually really picky about how clean the bathrooms and bed linens are.
Our's was a 2-room "suite": one king and bunk beds in a smaller room. My daughter tried each of the bunk beds, but the mattresses were terrible and the whole thing wobbled and seemed like it would collapse at any time. She slept in the king bed with me!
Also, the walls between the rooms must be nothing more than painted paper. The room next to ours had 2 members from a group up for a softball tournament, and you could follow the conversation of those in the room clearly. At one point, (4:15 a.m.) it woke me up and I had to bang on the wall.
The office staff was very friendly. If there was some way to make sure the room next door would be occupied by a quiet people, it would be fine.

WOW this was the worst stay that I have EVER had (and I have stayed in many motels). Here is just a few of the lowlights:
* On the Sunday we were there, they had a "family" BBQ and party for themselves. eating in front of the guests, playing LOUD music, and even disobeying there own rules (4 people in the spa, which was sandy and filthy, and they were allowing 5 or 6). Just plain RUDE people!
* Ants and spiders all over the rooms
* It cleary states that there are NO PETS allowed. Our last night the people staying next door had a dog running between their room and outside to the point we couldn't sleep. I went to the office and there solution was to me ME! Again they don't follow ANY type of rules, and these are THIER rules. What is up with that!
* The housekeeping sucked! dust ever where, didn't refill our coffee supplies, never enough towels, and the our first day there was hair around the toilet that wasn't ours.

These people do NOT know how to run a hotel. They are more interested in the ski boat and cars that the customer.

The name of this hotel has changed to The Tahoe Vistian.

WARING: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST!

“Adorable place with rustic charm!”

I loved it, adorable place. I completely disagree with the rating listed. My family and I were treated with great service. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in making our vacation an enjoyable one. It is located so close to the lake yet our cabin was tucked quietly back in the forest. It is close to all of the major ski resorts on the North Shore and still quiet and serene. I will definitely be back to this lodge.

The Cahnage in ownership or mgmt is evident. What was once a favorite has now left me feeling disenchanted.

The locations is great, rooms are 70-80s decor, quite, and kitchens.

I have been going annually to charmey for the last 4 years. Upon arrival last weekend I immediatly noticed a changes in the overall vibe.

The new mgmt was rude, lacked attention to detail and service, and did not seem like they valued my 180 dollars for a two night stay.

The hot tub area was dirty, the tub water low, and sand in the tub.

Overall the experience was alright. However, the love at the charmey is gone. Now it seems as if it is run by a lazy stoner trying to make a buck.

I think I will try to find a new place to spend my dollars.
