We just cane back from a weekend stay at this hotel on the North shore in tahoe. while I have always stayed in South lake tahoe , we took a chance and stayed on the north side. Not sure where to start with my displeasure for this place. We had a promotion to stay here and see thier timeshare across the street. The room we stayed in was very much like a motel 6 style room. The carpet was very stained and the bathroom is in serious need of a upgrade as the paint and plaster on the shower celling was falling off while I took a shower. The heater hardly worked and this was needed as it snowed heavily the whole time we were there. The driveways were a
mess with snow and driving up them was nearly a disaster everytime. The only decent thing about this place was the staff. There were pretty friendly and helpful. ( helped dig our car out of the snow.) But the site itself is pretty much a dump. Badly in need of renovations. For those those who stay here on a timeshare presentation. They book you into this dump and then have you go across the street to see the real resort. They are somewhat rude and very pushy about trying to get you to buy the $54,000 little cabin they are selling. It was easy to say NO. I would not recommend this place to anyone. While the North shore is pretty unless your a senior citizen and like to just sit around and do nothing this place is not for the young!

We went for a 3-day snowboarding trip. We had booked the stay online but when we got there, the front desk people said there was no record of it. They apologized repeatedly and explained it was the change in management. That was fine with me. They were very kind and each time they saw us, made sure we had everything we needed.

Our room was toasty and showers nice and hot after a long day. Clean linens daily, quiet atmosphere, peaceful. We got the second cheapest room and it still had a fridge and microwave! Good tv also--big, cable--nice to relax with. Great location, central and easy access to many resorts, resturants, grocery stores, gas, basically everything you need. Combines low prices with several nice bonuses. Would absolutely stay there again!!

    • Liked — The location, the service, the price, and that they allow pets. Next time I'll bring the dog.
    • Disliked — The resturants in the area all closed too early.

“Didn't want to leave”

Tahoe Vistana Inn

Oct 9, 2007

My trip to the Tahoe Vistana Inn was an unplanned spur of the moment adventure. I was already on a mini-vacation to Sacramento, and this little over night trip to Tahoe turned into one of the best memories I have of my week on the other side of the country. On top of doing everything they could for us, I also saw the management bend over backwards for several other guests as well. They took time to recommend a place for dinner, and just talked to us about the Inn and the area. There may not be a lot of glitz and glamour, and you have to remember that the buildings aren't brand new...but the Inn had a charm that you don't find all that often, and unlike many many places the management actually cares not only about the guests but also about the area.

My husband and I decided on a whim to make a trip up to North Shore. Since we had a visitor from across the country, we thought it might be a good way to show her some of our beautiful state.
I called on Saturday morning to book the room, for that night. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. When we entered the office, we were greeted by a warm fire, and a comfortable 'coziness'. Even though we arrived later than we anticipated, they were helpful with directions to the nearest eateries, and even gave us ideas on what we could do, while we were there. The staff quickly checked us in, and showed us to our room. They placed us in a 2 bedroom which was really roomy and nice. We couldn't get the heater to turn on, so they offered to let us use their 'portable' heater.
Once we'd unloaded the car, we decided to get food. Upon our return from the restaurant we stopped into the office for a moment to say thank you. They took the time to chat with us for a bit. These are very friendly people.
My husband and I will definitely be returning to this Inn. Since we travel rather often, we're always looking for places to get away.. North Shore is a good place to go.
The cabins/cottages are very rustic, and beautiful at this Inn. They are a picture of perfection for the area. We were sitting out on the patio for a little while, and we could see the beautiful waters of the lake.. Unfortunately, my camera's battery wasn't charged, so I have no pictures, but I will make sure it is charged when we return.
I was very sad to have to leave today.

This motel meets basic requirements cleanly and effectively, but no frills. It was nice, however, to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. My daughter loved the pool, but it looked like it needed a bit of TLC since it was missing quite a few of the tiles around the inside edge.
The room was clean, and each room seems to be decorated slightly differently with various bedspreads, etc. Housekeeping was efficient and very good--and I'm usually really picky about how clean the bathrooms and bed linens are.
Our's was a 2-room "suite": one king and bunk beds in a smaller room. My daughter tried each of the bunk beds, but the mattresses were terrible and the whole thing wobbled and seemed like it would collapse at any time. She slept in the king bed with me!
Also, the walls between the rooms must be nothing more than painted paper. The room next to ours had 2 members from a group up for a softball tournament, and you could follow the conversation of those in the room clearly. At one point, (4:15 a.m.) it woke me up and I had to bang on the wall.
The office staff was very friendly. If there was some way to make sure the room next door would be occupied by a quiet people, it would be fine.
