This restaurant is fabulous. The food was absolutely delicious and the views were amazing. My group of 8 made dinner reservations earlier in the day, and planned to return to our hotel to change clothes after our stroll along the Truckee River and visit to Squaw Valley. Some hours later we realized that were didn’t have time and so knowing that Christy Hill is a bit upscale, we called to check if we should change our reservations for another day. We were assured that our attire didn’t matter, and to our East Coast surprise, it really didn’t. Everyone in the Lake Tahoe area is very laid-back and the folks at Christy Hill were no exception.
We sat on the veranda (which has space heaters just in case), which, since the restaurant is on a hill, has an unobstructed view of the entire lake. We watched the sun setting on South Lake Tahoe. Our server Jean was friendly and attentive and along with the other staff met everyone’s needs.
My favorite dish was the raw oyster appetizer served with a rice wine, pickled ginger, scallion and cilantro dipping sauce. Plenty of options for vegetarians and non-meat eaters. We also ordered side dishes for the table to share.
Overall it was a great experience. It’s pricey but totally worth the splurge.
