“Lovely but no view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Excellent halibut. Not a full bar, and we did not get a view. Waiter was flip but a good server. Nice atmosphere but they are not flexible on adding a person.

“Gorgeous Views, was expecting much more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Arrived early for our reservation and were told we could walk down to the sand bar area and wait. Nice little area. Tried to order a cocktail but they only serve beer and wine. Surprised that there were only a few selections for wine, and nothing stood out. Ordered a glass of wine, not sure when this bottle was opened but it wasn't fresh. For $9, eghads. The server was nice enough.

The rest of the evening I was expecting so much more from the reviews here. The food was good, not outstanding. Service seemed rushed. We have plenty of excellent restaurants here in the NW, hopefully we'll find something better in our next visit to Tahoe. It's such a beautiful area.

Maybe it was just an off night at this restaurant.

“Simply the best meal and service I've had anywhere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

With no reservation on a busy Tahoe City Wanderlust weekend we walked in and were seated right away. Our server, servers, they all visited our table to enjoy conversation, was delightful and funny and informative and one of four house Sommelier as well a former chef himself. The the surroundings are lovely, the wine list is great, the service is impeccable and our meal was beyond my expectation. For a meal of this caliber in Los Angeles I would expect to pay at least $100- per person and our total between us including dessert and espresso, served with a twist, was around $30- each. If and when I return to Tahoe City Christy Hill will be at the top of my list for dining out.

“Nice- but was hoping for great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

Christy Hill is a very attractive restaurant in a beautiful setting. We made sure to call 10 days in advance to secure a reservation for a seat outdoors on the deck. And the weather was perfect.

We arrived early for a glass of wine and they suggested we have it at the Sand Bar which is their outdoor cocktail area 50 feet or so down the hill towards the water from the restaurant. It is a lovely, little area with comfortable, cushioned seats and a wonderful view. Seating is limited.

The restaurant’s atmosphere, the view and the service are all wonderful. But honestly I expected the food (or at least hoped that the food) would be really great. The food was nice but not as good as we anticipated. The pate and the salads were fine. For entrees we had the pappardelle and the halibut and neither had the flavor they needed and both could have been served warmer.

Service was friendly and efficient and we felt welcomed. We will try Christy Hill on another beautiful evening in the future and will hope it rises a step up to become one of the top restaurants around the lake.

“Worth the 1 1/2 hour wait for a table”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

We were staying at the Squaw resort in Olympic Village on a business trip. Hubby was getting most meals, I was skipping them like I usually do, or eating on the run in the room or backpacking it. :}
We wanted to go out this one night (mid week) for something nice so I I-phoned yelp for some ideas and Christy Hill came up. We parked and went to the door only to find there was a 1 1/2 hour wait unless we wanted to sit outside. It was cooling down fast so we opted to wait. We wandered the shoreline, park, did geocaching for most of that time and returned for a table that would be "worth the wait", and it was. Beautiful view of the water and sunset.

We didn't recognise a lot of what was on the menu but it didn't matter. We loved every bit. The heirloom tomato salad was wonderful. (and we grow our own at home). My juniper/apricot/pork was more than I cold eat and the entire plate was fabulous. Hubby had the valley chicken breast and loved it. We couldn't eat all the hummus so it was a dinner for me the next night.
Service was great. It was probably one of the most expensive meals we have ever had but also one of the nicest. I loved having all kinds of ingredients that were new or unusual and presented in such a beautiful way. Very delightful evening.
