We are not skaters and some may consider us duffers (striders) but we have been x-country skiing since the early 70's and have constantly upgraded our equipment. This resort is easy to get to from anywhere on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and is very close to Tahoe City. Over the years we have skied all of the north shore cross country ski areas and always enjoy Tahoe Cross Country. We have found the staff friendly and helpful on any questions we have pertaining to our equipment.
This resort does a good job of grooming their trails and have some trails where a skier can run their dogs in the winter. However, we have found that their medium trails are equal to the easier trails found in Royal Gorge. The trails are more gentle on up and down hills and not as long or steep as some other places we have been. It is a beautiful area with plenty of majestic trees along the trails. At times, you have great views of Lake Tahoe which is always enjoyable. We always see new people who are just trying cross country skiing for the 1st time around the trails and except for weekends, it is not unusual to be on a trail for 10-15 minutes or longer without seeing anyone else. Even if you do, it's usually for only a brief moment. The rates a comparative to Tahoe Donner and they have 1/2 rates plus senior rates and if your over 70, it's free.
