next time I plan on staying in the city for less and riding the bus to different ski resorts, plenty of hotels and restaurants to choose from as well as grocery stores
I wish the shops would stay open later
When the weather is good in Tahoe this is the place to get your exercise and meet other friendly people
The paved bike trail from the Highway 89 "Y" intersection in Tahoe City to Squaw Valley (passing River Ranch about a mile before Squaw) is a very easy bike along the Truckee River. You can continue past Squaw, paralleling Highway 89, but it is not as pastorla or safe as the trail between the two towns. You can stop at River Ranch for a bite or a drink on its outdoor deck overlooking the River, or pack a lunch and eat at one of the many tables or benches right along the river. (Of course, if you want to bike up the grade to Squaw, there are tons of places to eat & drink.) Bike rentals abound in Tahoe City. When rafting is "on" (not the summer), the trail can be crowded, but it is very scenic and worthwhile; I have done this small trip for three or four years running.
