Description: Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon in Uptown Susanville is Northeastern California's only brewpub. We are a 21 and over only establishment. The historic Pioneer Mercantile building we occupy has been home to a saloon for 150 years--look for the large vintage neon Pioneer sign on the south side of Main Street. We offer a small but eclectic menu of house-made dishes including fish and chips, lamb stew, hamburgers and fresh salads. Our ales are made on site and include light and dark ales from the pale, crisp Bizz Johnson Blonde to the rip snorting Pioneer Porter. We also have a full bar, specialty cocktails, a wine by the glass and a selection of single malt scotch. Take a seat at our 36-foot-long bar and admire the wall of local ranch brands above the bar back or go into the back room to watch the brewer at work and play pool beneath the historic mural that celebrates the logging and ranching roots of Susanville.

“Awesome Brats & Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

The establishment itself was interesting. The bar is an antique. The sausage is made in-house, as is the beer. Both were exceptional. The sausages were very good--great seasoning. They were served with sauerkraut, which was very skimpy, probably only about 1/4 cup, and my only complaint. I asked for more and got another 1/4 cup, which was still way less than I would have liked, as it was very good as well. The wait staff was very attentive and it was an interesting restaurant. The hotel we stayed at gave us each a token for a free pint of their brew, a selection that was quite diverse. This is a pub and children under 21 are not permitted per California law, so be aware if you are a family with children.

Found this wonderful establishment on Tripadvisor. Loved it! Place has history but is current in approach to food. Uses fresh and local to create dishes that reflect the area and heritage. AND there is beer!!!

“Great food and drink in an interesting atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Recommended to go here by the locals and it certainly didn't disappoint. The beer brewed on the premises was amazing as was the simple, yet well prepared bar food. For a bar in an old building, it was surprisingly nice inside. Locals were very friendly and the staff was excellent.

“Suprised and pleased!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

On a road trip with friends we bumped into this wonderful place. The food, service and price was great. It's well worth the stop even on a hot day in July. For beer drinkers it's also an delight. Every dish we ordered had great presentation and great tasting.

“Terrific pub with excellent craft brews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

We loved our meal at this pub. It is a comfortable place with craft brews brewed on premises, incredibly rich and fresh tasting. The food was very good, service with a smile, and I still dream about the copper ale.....omg.
