H Butler's BBQ is a direct competitor to Armadillo Willy's. It is located just one block down on the opposite side of El Camino. The restaurant is literally a hole in the wall in the CVS pharmacy shopping mall, with individual booths and two wide screen TVs for sports fans.
I don't normally order fried chicken wings, but it came with the combination meal, and was very good -lightly breaded, with plenty of meat. The tri-tips were about average, a little dry, and cooled quickly -got to eat them while they are hot. The highlight of the meal were the fried prawns and the fried catfish. Again, both were very lightly breaded, and not too greasy. The prawns were smaller than jumbo prawns, but still very good, with plenty of taste. The fried catfish was excellent. One could taste the fresh fish, unlike a lot of fried fish at other places. Side dishes of yams, corn bread and cole slaw were on the sweet side, with lots of brown sugar. Greens were overcooked but good.
Again, this is a direct competitor to Armadillo Willys with similar prices, but also serves catfish and prawns. I didn't taste their ribs, but prefer Armadillo Willy's spicy peanut cole slaw to their cole slaw. However, the fried catfish and prawns of H Butler's can't be beat.
