“This may have been a practical joke”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

I travel a lot for business and I stay hotels between 90 to 120 days per year, for the last 25 years. So, I have been in hell holes and five-stars all over the U.S and other countries. A few problems are no big deal. But when the issues begin to pile up, there is a breaking point.
Quality Inns are usually very good but certainly not this one. For Silicon Valley, this was the second worst hotel I have ever stayed at---a torturous two nights. (The first one is another review) So, I'll just do a list: 1.The chain latch was put on backwards. That meant the open side was nearest the jam. No safety there. No intelligence either. 2. The wireless was at 20% strength--did not work at all. 2a. Oh, there was an Ethernet cable as well. Didn’t work either. 3. The clock was unplugged. I had to move the bed to plug it in. Always a treat for a bad back. Once plugged in, it still didn't work. 4. The desk light and desk outlet (single) did not work. I discovered it was wired to a switch ‘behind' the TV armoire. Brilliant! 5. The air conditioner worked---only occasionally. 6. One bar of soap. So I had to move it from sink for a shower, then back again. No new bar the second day. 6. The pillows were the size of a 15 inch square throw pillow, only thicker and harder. Awful for comfort. 7. Only one bath towel but two hand towels. 8. The iron’s wall holder was hanging on by a thread. It finally hit the floor during the night. 9. The push button for the iron’s sprayer was missing. 10. The hair dryer was broken. 11. The breakfast buffet room was about the size of the bathroom in the room. Five tiny tables, burnt, horribly smelling bacon with hard boiled, not scrambled, eggs. Denny’s was about a mile away, thank goodness. 12. The computer in the lobby could not connect to the internet. But, I was able to go behind the desk and use their computer to print my boarding pass. Ridiculous. 13. Lastly, there is a book-sharing shelf in the lobby. Above it there a notable very emphatic sign about No Religious Books Allowed. I thought that was a bit threatening and odd the way it was worded, and not that I am religious person.
My associate had similar issues with his room. And the topper for him was no TV remote and there was not a spare one to be had in the hotel.
So, why the one star? I was clean and I can’t do zero stars.

Room Tip: I would assume that there are no good rooms. This hotel is extremely poorly managed.

After travelling 3000 miles across country for nine days, these guys easily took the cake for just not giving a damn.

The not-quite-identifiable plethora of smells, odors, and sensations of crawling skin was slightly masked by the panic at the discovery of black mold growing in the cracks of the peeling wallpaper.

The real irony was the utter lack of anything resembling a hot breakfast (despite their posted announcement of such on the wall) while the entire three floors of the hotel reeked of bacon. What little 'juice' remained seemed to be an unintentional blend of apple and orange and the coup-de-gras was the molded orange in the basket of fruit.

While I realize that this 'hotel' sits in one of the most expensive areas of the country, the thought of spending nearly $100 on a room that one would expect to see rented by the hour in the seedy side of a sleezy town, really galls me.

In the preceeding eight days of travel we experienced everything from not-quite-acceptable to above-and-beyond the expectation and it was always such a pleasure to stay with people who took pride in their hotel and themselves. It was so disappointing (especially in such an upscale and educated community as Sunnyvale) to see such a "slum hotel" mentality.

This hotel reflects badly on not only Quality Inns (which leave very little room for disappointment, by our few unfortunate stays on this trip) but on the town of Sunnyvale, CA. That their county's health department would not be able to identify and deal with the myriad health violations within the Quality Inn Civic Center gives strong suspicion to either their credability or their eithics.

It goes without saying at this point that I would strongly advise everyone to steer clear of the Quality Inn Civic Center in Sunnyvale, CA.

Room Tip: Run away. For the love of God, run away.

Clean, very welcoming desk clerk. Room was a little noisy due to the proximity of a main passing street.

Room Tip: ask for a room not with view on parking lot to get less noise

Not bad for overnight business trip, clean and central to San Jose area. Wifi was very flakey, I ended up having to use my mobile hot spot because the connection kept dropping. Walls and insulation are too thin, as I could hear people next to me and above me. Was not too bad to keep me up at night, but was noticeable enough. Breakfast was ok, waffles and bacon and usual cold cereal stuff. Disappointed there were no scrambled eggs (only boiled).

Room Tip: I got a room right next to lobby, which I don't recommend due to the noise

Location is ok - on the El Camino strip with lots around. But the hotel is on the beat side - some what old and not the cleanest. The workout room has 3 pieces of cardio equipment, and that's it. The room was an on size, but the wifi signal would drop every now and then. Wifi speed wasn't too bad. The bathroom had a fan tied the the light switch, and the fan seemed to be as loud as a jet engine. The wall between the room was tbin - I could here a couple next door using normal conversation tone. Finally, cost was higher than a better hotel I usually stay at just down the road.. Breakfast was ok, but the room was a bit small for more than a couple of people.

Right from the gate I entered a clean well lit and classy looking establishment. At the front desk Boris helped me find the perfect room for me and even let me pick which vacant room I would be relaxing in. The first room I entered was perfect . Clean and well furnished with spacious bathrooms large comfy bed and a view of Historic El Camino Real. The large television In my room offered the excellent reception of many premium channels and beleive it or not a very clean remote control! A large cushioned chair with stool combo near the large windows offered a seat with a view A desk and even wi-fi hook ups next to the coffee machine for the people who need to work. Plenty of towels and toiletries stocked in a large and well decorated bathroom . Also a gym if you got time . Or you could do laundry in the guest laundry. .The Mini fridge and microwave were modern and very clean but if you can hold off until morning they provide a wonderful breakfast to all of their guest..Oh yeah and the rooms are all non smoking and it is enforced and you can tell. Overall very good deal and a lot of employess with good customer service and attention to detail. Thank you for putting Quality into this establishment because it is appreciated alot.

Room Tip: I think the third floor has the best views and no overhead guests, Other than that the rooms are al...

Stayed for one night on business trip. Checkin/out was easy. Room was on the first floor, and I noticed that the sliding glass window was not locked. Had to struggle to get the latch to lock. Someone could have easily gotten into the room had I not checked. Wall paper seemed a bit worn. Room had a small refrigerator. Desk clerk was quick to provide a couple of mouthwash bottles when I called. Small courtesy breakfast was available. Free internet access. Overall, place is ok, but would probably stay elsewhere.
