Room is only a slight cut above the M6 average, but the pool area -- always important to me -- was remarkable: tree-shaded and clean. For under $50 (single, summer 2005) in the Silicon Valley, it is an extraordinary value.

We have family in the Bay Area and we stay at the Motel 6 Sunnyvale North everytime we visit. (about 3-4 times a year) Our last stay was at Christmas 2005 and they were re-decorating all rooms. Ours had just been done, new carpets, drapes, bedspreads, very clean, paint, etc.
They have extra large family rooms (we have 2 kids) available that are very roomy. (I think they have 4 of them) You can request these at check in, we always ask for one.
We are always gone during the day, at Grandma's or Aunties, so we really only use the place as a bedroom and shower. They have a pool, coin laundry we have never used either.
I recently tried this motel 6 after being a big fan of the motel 6 across the street on Ahwanee, which was booked, I figured this would be just as good.
I was wrong.
Although the price was the same as it's sister across mathilda, that's where the similarties ended. Upon entering the lobby I immediately felt unwelcomed. I found the staff to be rude and defensive. I almost felt like I needed to apologize for bothering them with my room request. But the problems didn't stop there.
1. The room smelled foul, and the floor had noticable stains thruout the entire room.
2. Noise. Extremely paper thin walls, add that with noisey neighbors and you have a problem. The room above mine was loud well into 2-3am and multiple complaints to the front desk did not help at all.
3. Unsafe. Although the motel 6 across the road is in the same direct neighbor hood, there was just something about this motel 6 that did not make me feel safe.
4. The beds. The beds may be the worst of all. I suspect they were 20-30 years old and I assume this on the noise of "snaps" the springs made when I moved. Woke up with horrible back-ache
I can honestly say I will _NEVER_ stay at this motel again, and based on thise expirience may give up on the motel6 chain altogether. The price in this area isn't amazingly cheaper and after my last night stay I'd pay the extra 10 spot for a good nights rest.
This is a few steps above your average Motel 6. The grounds are very nice, and the staff really made us feel at home.
