Actually, the food was good, but there were way too many other issues. On a warm evening, the patio looks inviting, and inside the air conditioning made the dining room too cold. We were seated at a nice table towards the back of the patio, which I thought was a blessing given the heavy traffic on Mankas Corner Rd. However, we found that an early dinner on a weekday commute night (Friday) was a mistake. It would be better if it were a steady drone, but the traffic noise varies up and down as cars and motorcycles stop and accelerate from the stop signs in front. But you can get used to the noise easier than you can get used to the flies. There was a constant flurry of flies at our table the entire time, causing us to be constantly waving and shooing them away. The final straw though was the drinks. We ordered a vodka martini and a tall gin and tonic. Pretty simple and straight forward, without calling for a particular brand, accepting the well vodka and gin. When we got our bill however, we found we apparently had been served a Grey Goose martini and a Tanqueray gin and tonic. We didn't have time to question or determine what might have happened, since we had already gone through one issue with the check (the waitress had initially given us the wrong check), and we were now late for an engagement. Whatever the reason was, a mistake or those are the well liquors, that was the last straw in a series of issues we had with The Vintage Cafe.
