“Tranquil Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

A delightful hotel set amongst beautiful and peaceful surroundings just a few hours drive from Colombo. The villas are spacious and well equipped with private balconies overlooking the tea plantations and paddy fields. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I look forward to returning for a longer stay.

Our Homecoming was held at Lake Serenity. Very beautiful location. Breathtaking view. Food was excellent. But the management was very unfriendly. They were not supportive at all. The manager was rude and bossy. They behaved like that they are paying for our function. Not supportive at all. We were not given a complimentary changing room because our number of guests were less than 150 (even 5 stars hotels in urban areas provides this facility regardless of number of guests). Disappointing service.

I am training, I use various hotel properties to conduct workshops & training program.I used Lake Serenity to conduct a training workshop and was extreamly happy with the outcome. Firstly the property offers an ideal setting to conduct a workshop/training. But i also found the attitude of the staff to be super. this make my life very easy as a trainer.
The staff is very flexible & accommodating. I will not hesitate to go back. Unfortunately i had too little time to enjoy the other numerous comforts of the property.

The name of this boutique hotel could not be better suited. Placed in beautiful surroundings including tea plantations, rice fields and a large lake, one cannot help feeling utterly relaxed and blissfully serene here. The only negative thing is that we had chosen to only stay for one night and not for longer. We look forward to returning for a longer stay and to seeing Pipi the black swan, the friendly staff and especially the great hotel manager Volker again during our next trip to Sri Lanka.

We were unfortunately the only guests in this rather run down hotel. They were extremely short staffed. They did not clear away the drinks and cutlery form the night before.,and the restaurant was therefore over run with ants.None of the table cloths were clean ,all stained and dirty. We all came down with dodgy tummies ,after staying here not sure it was related or not but we were fine everywhere ,which isn't 't great when you are travelling such long distances between hotels

Lake Serenity is located about 2 Kilometers from Kuruwitta on the Colombo to Ratnapura road. A wonderful place to spend holidays. The twin chalets are located surrounded by a nice lawn and garden in the midst of a well maintained tea plantation. The rooms are very clean and cozy. The staff is extremely hospitable and service is excellent. Guests and luggage is carries in a golf cart on to their rooms which is quite unique and pleasant. There is a lake and the restaurant is situated at the edge of it with parts of it standing on pillars in water. The black swan and he geese reared by the hotel is nice to watch even at night. At night sitting in the restaurant once the powerful lights are on we can see hundreds of egrets and herons resting on the tree tops around the lake ant it is an awesome sight which a nature lover will never forget.

The food is good and the service at the restaurant is exceptional.

Except for the pompous and rude General Manager who talks to the guests in the same way as he scolds his workers is the only bad aspect of this otherwise wonderful resort.........

Room Tip: Beware of the GM

This is one of the best properties in Ratnapura area to spend a day or two with family. Kids would find ample of space to play whilst enjoying the nature. Hotel is sorrounded by tea plantations and paddy fields. We enjoyed our stay here. Love Birds and macaws are good attractions and help keep children busy.
We were occupying an upstair room which didn't have much day light due most of the areas being covered. Rooms could have been more cleaner!

Staff was a severe constraint and hence service quality was little below expectation. However, staff are nice and friendly.

Access to the hotel is best with a 4WD and recommend half board or full board here.

This property has lot of potential if beef up with adequate resources and attention to detail.

Room Tip: Room facing tea bushes or paddy field
