“Let down by poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

We dined here over the weekend with friends. The food was really good, but the wait staff were just not attentive at all. We had to regularly ask for drink refills, water etc..It wasn't that they were busy, but just not focused on serving the tables. When we asked for our bill it came immediately but then they didn't come back to take payment. One of us stood for more than 10mins at the desk to try to pay. In the end we had to get a barman from another section to come over. Even he had no idea where the wait staff were? Its sad because the renovation is nice & the food its great. Service once again letting down the Gold Coast!

“A funky new pub-lic house!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Dropped in for a cheeky mid-week lunch. The internal decor is not all that different from when it was City Rowers, but it is less crowded and more spacious, giving more guests the chance to enjoy the view over the canal and the warm breezes coming in through the open windows. Food wise, it is American style, steaks, burgers, hotdogs and pizzas, but there were also some nice salads and street food to choose from. We opted for the Flash Fried Calamari (yum), the seared salmon salad (small but also very tasty) and the steak sandwich with fries (huge). It's only early days for the venue, but we enjoyed it and are pleased to have another different restaurant option in the area - even if it is a just a funky pub on the water (aka Public House)

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

I had dinner here with a few friends. Some ordered share plates and others ordered a meal. The menu did not excite me. It has pizzas and burgers etc in keeping with their New York theme. The food was ok. My chicken main was quite tasteless. The share plates had more flavour. The decor is New York style but it is very plain and open. Chairs and tables are small - especially if you have a square table with 4 people. Not much room once your food comes out. I think the decor could do with some plants and New York pictures on the bare walls. Our waiter was friendly but had no knowledge of the menu. That comes down to poor training.
