A very handy situation for all the sights in San Francisco as it was only a short ride on the BART. The room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was adequate.

We recently stayed on Howard Johnson So. San Fransisco for our son's wedding, great location, very close to the airport. From beginning to the end of our stay, all of the staff members were very nice and friendly, nice breakfast, all rooms were well equipped, except for the iron board, but not a big deal. it was well worth the price. I would highly recommend to anyone

The room was outdated,We had to wear flip flops in the shower (the tiles were broken around tub,extra set of holes where taps use to be for bath and shower VERY OLD AND WORN PLus LINO IN BATHROOM NOT GOOD!!!!)Needs new BATHROOM.Found it very noisy-Probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in

Please know that all our rooms were renovated about a year ago however the renovations did not included the vanity area. This year we are actually in the process of renovating all our bathrooms. It is a long process but I am sure that the room will be at your standards next time you visit South San Francisco.

I needed a place to sleep and shower after nearly 24 hours flying. The shuttle picked me up at the airport and after a couple of stops at other motels, we made it to Howard Johnson Express. The front desk attendant was very friendly, and the check-in was easy. My room was on the 2nd floor of the motel, and there is no elevator. My overweight bag was not easy to drag up the stairs. The room appeared clean, but it could use some updating - it seemed a bit worn. Even with the lights on it was dark.

Because it is convenient to the airport with a shuttle that will transport you each way, I would probably stay here again. By using the shuttle back to the airport, I was able to access BART and get to downtown San Francisco using public transportation from there. There were a few delays on the shuttle - not the motel's fault - but I would definitely recommend catching a shuttle to the airport considerably earlier than you would first think. Each time I rode it there were delays.

I would sum up this hotel as a typical airport accommodation, a bit dated, but clean, safe and convenient to the airport.

Yes as you mention having the shuttle allows you to get to the BART very easily, this way u save yourself sometime looking for parking. It was very pleasant stay at this hotel. It was actually hotel not motel. We actually got to talk to the manager when we were checking out. She was very helpful and kind. She was able to help us with everything we needed. Breakfast was pretty good and Also, beds in the room looked new and very comfortable. The room by itself was super clean. We will definitely stay here at this HOJO when we come back to San Francisco.

My husband and I flew in very late and I planned for us to stay near the airport and then navigate transportation into San Francisco the following morning after a good night's sleep. Let it be clear that this is a motel, not a hotel. I found it a bit disconcerting that when we checked in the contract read, "No refunds will be given 30 minutes after check-in." I don't know what has happened in the past that they felt the need to include it in their contract.

The rooms are small but the beds were comforable. I wanted to believe the room was clean and we didn't find anything to the contrary. It is just a very old and run down looking place. The shuttle took us to the motel for free but you stop at several other hotels on the shuttle route before arriving. I do have to say the young man at the front desk was warm and helpful. Probably the best part of the stay. The breakfast the next morning was basic juice and simple food items.

In retrospect, I wish my husband and I would have just pushed through and gone into the city upon our arrival. We would have spent more on accomodations in the city but it probably would have been worth it. We ended up taking a cab the next morning towards Union Sqare which probably took as much time as riding the shuttle to our hotel did.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review online! I am glad to hear that you enjoy the comfort of our beds and that our Staff was warm and helpful. Our registration cards include all our standard policies like the one that you mention. The policy is listed there to inform our guests that we consider a room to be occupied after 30 min, and for this reason there are no refunds available.
Yes, as you mention we do share our shuttle service with other Hotels in the area. We normally inform our guest as we asked them to confirm with the driver at the time they take the shuttle. My apologies if you had a different idea. In order to keep cost to our guest to a minimum, we do have a basic breakfast, however many guest are very satisfied with what we are able to offer them. Each morning we provide with bagels, pastries, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, coffee/teas and other beverages. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations, our location is close to the airport, but to get to downtown and main attractions if you are not driving we suggest to our guest to take the Free shuttle to the airport and from there take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) this one will take you all around San Francisco. Arrived late after a long drive with 2 friends. When we booked we advised there were 3 adults. At receptiontion they allocated ONE bed for 3 people. When I asked if they have a rollaway they just shook their heads. Ummmm so what can we do? She said we could buy another room at a highly inflated rate. Ended up having to pay more money for a room up the road at Travelodge for one of our party. The rooms are aged, dirty carpet, aged bathrooms with plenty of places for grime to hide. Staff here have nil customer skills and did not care a bit about the situation we were in. I stay in over 200 rooms a year for work and this is the worst ever.

Room Tip: Keep looking do not stay here

We were able to pull your original reservation which was booked trough a third party internet website. Please understand that online reservations are automatically uploaded into our hotel system. We do not make modifications to the original reservation unless a request comes from the guest or their booking site. Your original reservation called for a K1 – which is a non-smoking single king. This room type does allow for up to 3 people in the room, therefore our system would not have rejected the reservation. Rollaway beds are limited and are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Unfortunately, all the rollaway beds were being used at your time of check-in. The room does come standard with four queen size pillows and we are always happy to provide more upon request.
