“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

It is out of the way with very little curb appeal. I parked my car there before going on my trip and when coming back the man at the airport said I should call for a pick up which I did. That meant I had a wait for about 35 minutes late at night. After an an hour and 25 minutes I took a taxi. There was no apology, no reimbursement, no anything, no explanation. Oh, the airport guy said it was common for them to take over an hour to get there. how ironic since they advertise how close they are to the airport.

Beautiful lobby, and nice rooms. The manager Alfonso is a very people person and this hotel should be so lucky to have him as their manager! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central location near the airport! We would definitely stay there again in the future...

Room Tip: Overlooking the courtyard is lovely! :)

Because we were unable to get standby seats at SFO, we needed to stay overnight so that we would catch the first flight out the next morning. Through an airport hotel reference service, we booked a room at the CityGarden Hotel on S. Airport Blvd. Unfortunately, our stay was not a very pleasant experience. Although the room was clean, its amenities were very old and sparse. For example, there was no closet, there was no bathroom counter (just a free standing sink), the TV was an old Phillips model, the bed was hard, and there was a wide space at the bottom of the room's door that made it necessary to put a towel in front of it to block out the noise and cool night air. In addition, all three soft drink vending machines were not working, so we were unable to get beverages other than bottled water from the front desk. However, in keeping with its name, the hotel's garden was very nicely maintained. It would be nice if as much effort could be given to upgrading the rooms. This establishment should be categorized as a motel and not a hotel. We will not be staying there again.

Room Tip: Look for another hotel/motel.

I read the reviews before my visit to the CitiGarden Hotel and I was prepared to be underwhelmed. We got a good deal on Expedia for this hotel and all the other places we researched seemed over-priced for what we needed. This is a fine place to stay if you're venturing out to the city everyday and just using the hotel as a place to sleep. My husband and I found our room to be clean and surprisingly quiet except for the bathroom fan that ran nonstop and there was no switch to turn it off. The friendliness of the staff was inconsistent from shift to shift. The people who work the day shift seemed nicer than the night shift staff. The airport shuttle bus was dependably on time and we used it most everyday to get to the airport to pick up BART. There is also a city bus (line #292) that picks up passengers just up the street from the hotel and will take you all the way to Fisherman's Wharf for $2. The continental breakfast was pretty terrible. For the money you may save on accommodations, find a nicer place to eat breakfast. Bottom line? CitiGarden Hotel isn't the worst place you'll ever stay.

Over priced rooms and dirty and stained and loud in the morning as people walk pass your room.
The breakfast is not that good.
Great place to stay if your having a layover but not so good if your there for a few days. All the rooms need a do over and they don'y have any safes in the rooms.

We've stayed at CitiGarden multiple times in the past because it is quite convenient in regard to its proximity to SFO and the fact that they participate in park, sleep and fly.
This stay, however, was definitely not a good one. First of all, I had called the front desk to ask for and extra pillow and additional towels as they only gave us 2 bath and 1 hand towel. The front desk operator said she would have housekeeping bring them to our room. After 30 minutes, no towels. I called again and a different employee answered the phone and assured me they'd bring them to our room. Well, it was now 9:30 pm and we had to be at the airport at 5:30 am. Needless to say, we NEVER did get the towels or pillow. The worst of this stay was when we arrived back at SFO. We arrived at 11:30 a.m. to the shuttle pick up curb and called the hotel to request the shuttle and were told that it would be there at 11:57. Well, surprise NO CITIGARDEN shuttle came- multiple shuttles from EVERY other hotel, but not CitiGarden. We called the hotel again at 12:10 and were told that the driver WAS there we would need to now wait for the next scheduled shuttle at 12:27. My husband assured the hotel employee that no CitiGarden shuttle came to the pickup area and they insisted that their shuttle was there...!!! At about 12:35, the shuttle finally came. When I politely questioned the driver if he was the only driver (after handing him a tip, mind you), he said "Yes, just me"; and when I asked him why he didn't come at 11:57, he said VERY RUDELY, "No, the shuttle runs every 45 minutes and it was right that we had to wait." W.O.W.!?!?! CitiGarden just lost our future business. P. S. They remodeled last year, but we found the mattresses to be extremely firm and not very comfortable.

The room was tidy, bedding was comfortable and the hotel was clean and neatly landscaped. My only complaint was the small/out-dated television and the minimal breakfast that consisted of only carbs (toast/waffles). We were in San Francisco for a Niners game, so we certainly didn't mind this hotel for a simple & economic bed to sleep in following the game.
