The Four points Sheraton by SFO is a well situated hotel about 3-4 minutes drive from SFO. It has good freeway access with the entrance to 101 North literally next to the hotel, the freeway is also beside the hotel on one side, and south airport blvd on the other.

The hotel has an airport shuttle which runs every 1/2 hour departing the hotel and servicing all terminals at SFO. We rented a car so did not use the shuttle to the hotel but did use the shuttle back however missed the shuttle and ended up taking another hotel shuttle to a hotel nearby.

The rooms were a bit cramped compared to other 4 points sheraton - we had 2 queen beds; there was free wi-fi internet however our computer had trouble logging into the network, but the hotel was kind enough to supply us with ethernet cable. There is a refrigerator and free water was supplied each day.

The lobby contains a small restaurant, a single computer/printer which was handy to print out boarding passes before getting to the airport.

Noise level was high - being next to 101 and another major route. It seemed the rooms were not well insulated. The hotel is completely smoke-free which is nice, beds were typical american-style. Bathroom was clean.

Parking space was limited on-site though able to be found. Given the large number of hotels in the vicinity at varying price points, we'd recommend another hotel instead.

With good freeway access, the hotel is close to both SFO and also downtown SF, literally 10-15 minute drive(without traffic) into parts of the city - most of the touristy places are about 20-25 minute drive, it is also close to a BART station if you choose to park and BART it in as well.

We gave the hotel 3 star rating since it really was a 3 star hotel. prices were higher than normal only because of its vicinity to SFO, rooms seemed cramped compared to other 4 points, it was noisy as well. Receptionists were a bit clueless, a wake up call was supposed to happen but never did, alarm clock did not work in our hotel as well thankfully i had set my cell phone or else would have missed my flight.

We would not stay again at this hotel, but that being said it overall is not a bad place to stay.

Hotel, was nice and clean, parking very good and free! We booked for 4 people, there were only 3 towels for us, so we called down for more. Waited 2 hours before just going down to get the towels ourselves.
There were not any inexpensive places nearby to eat--you don't eat fancy when you've got the kids, so we ended up at a KFC across town. (Mapquest direction are not correct for this site--hard to find.)

One of the beds squeeked horribly due to a broken boxspring so we had to give that bed to the kids and it was hard to control the temperature in the room.
In the morning when we complained about the towels and broken bed the man at the desk immediately gave us coupons for 4 free breakfasts in their ajoining cafe where the breakfast was nice, but too expensive to eat there without the coupons. $2.50 per egg, $11 for pancakes alone..just too pricy. The pancakes were way too dark and the egg was runny where I ordered it cooked VERY hard. Staff was very nice and pleasent though and the place was decent and clean. We'd stay there again as it's far enough from downtown to not fear for our lives! lol. (for being right next to the airport it was surprisingly quiet.)

The elevator is tiny, the hallways are a bit cramped and the rooms are not overly large.

But the beds are comfortable, very. The channel selection available on the TV is fine. Internet was available and free! The bathrooms are hardly luxurious (formica [?] countertops) but the water pressure is strong and the bath towels were large and sufficiently fluffy. (Nothing can beat a nice hot shower after 12-hours in the air. Nothing!)

I ate in the restaurant the first time I ever stayed at the Fourpoints in 2003, it was good. I didn't eat there the last time I stayed.

The courtesy shuttle makes it easy to get to/from the airport as well.

All-in-all, for the price (around USD110 + a night when I last stayed there) a pretty good hotel to spend your time in transit. Nothing more, nothing less.

I only spent less than 12 hours at this hotel. I checked in late and had to catch a morning flight. I waited ages at SFO for the hotel's shuttle and even called the hotel from the airport for it. Maybe because of that, when I checked in, I was offered an upgrade to a suite. This was no ordinary suite, but a two-storey room with a staircase leading to the bedroom. I certainly didn't need all this space but it was a nice offer by the hotel. The shuttle, which also serves the Holiday Inn, runs every 25 minutes so you should plan on getting 5 or 10 mins before it arrives or it could be a long wait.
The in-room safe was really small. Can't put much in there except for a few papers. Also, it was difficult controlling the thermostat.
I would have liked to stay another day after getting the suite, but these pleasant surprises always happen when you don't plan for them.
