Stayed with my family the night before an early flight. The airport shuttle runs every 1/2 hour and from our experience, was on time. The room was small and the air conditioner leaked on the carpet. I didn't find the bathroom exceptionally clean - it was small and because the vanity area was in the main part of the room, it was not possible to get ready without waking others. We left too early for the breakfast but the coffee was fresh. The people at the front desk were helpful. I would call this a very average stay that was a bit pricey for the accommodations - we paid $170 with tax. I'm sure we could have been just as comfortable at a much lower pricetag.

My wife and I stayed here in early July based, in large part, on reviews on this site. Never have I read so many reviews that are completely off the mark.

First, our room was -- in many ways -- dumpy. The toilet bowl lid did not stay up (warning to you guys out there) and is actually built to automatically lower itself. The same with the bathroom door: it doesn't stay open, and will shut itself loudly without something propping it open.

Second, the water pressure out of a drinking faucet is stronger than the bathroom shower. Our room didn't even have a shower head, but one of those hand-held wands that is set at about four feet. In other words, if you are over four feet tall, you will have to figure out a way to shower and bathe yourself while holding this shower wand. Calling this awkward would be an understatement. More accurately: it is annoying beyond belief.

Finally, those who rave about this breakfast they offer are way off the mark. The breakfast was not good (even a group of high school students in the breakfast area called the eggs "gross"), and consisted of the usual cereal, toast, and bagel variety. Big deal. It is a small area too, which means you may have a hard time finding a seat.

One more thing: the walls are thin. We heard the family upstairs with kids playing around. We had to call the front desk to stop the noise -- and the impression I got is that noise problems are something the front desk has to deal with all the time.

With all the motels/hotels around SFO, I can't imagine why one would stay here. It also is not very cheap. Look elsewhere, and save yourself some aggravation.

This was an OUTSTANDING Hampton Inn. We are always happy with our Hampton stays, but this one takes the cake! Outstanding and very helpful front desk, clean, comfortable, and beautiful rooms with fridge and microwave, excellent breakfast, and free parking. They had superb bathroom lighting for doing makeup---loved the separate magnifiying, lighted mirror! It was a perfect spot for our visit to San Francisco, and definitely a keeper on our vacation/business list.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn--South San Francisco the weekend of May 12-13 in order to attend our daughter's basketball tournament in the City. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The room had a microwave and small fridge, two queen beds and standard furnishings (table, desk, television, etc). The breakfast buffett was okay (waffles, cold cereal, fresh fruits, bagels, sausage, etc) and provided sufficient fuel to start the morning. The front desk clerks were professional and friendly--in fact, the front desk clerk made a dinner recommendation and even made the reservations for us (Butterfly Vietnamese Kitchen and Bar Bistro located at 1150 El Camino Real in San Bruno--it was excellent and reasonably priced). There are restaurants near the hotel (Hungry Hunter) that we tried the last time, but I have no recommendation on them.

In addition, the Embassy Suites is located next door to the Hampton Inn, but members of our party indicated that they had stayed there before and it was noisier and looking worn down on the inside.

Overall, the experience at the Hampton Inn was excellent and we'd stay there again.
