I've often given small hotels, cheaper hotels five stars because even though they're not palaces, they really are an incredible value overall. This is a hotel with a lot of potential but it falls short in an area that really won't take a big investment for the hotel. The GOOD NEWS (for the hotel): I disagree with the reviewers about how being close to the highway means you can't sleep, etc. My room faced the highway and it didn't interfere with my sleeping at all. It was very quiet. MORE GOOD NEWS: Internet is no longer a privilege for a traveler. What really unacceptable is when you call a hotel and ask if their internet works and they say yes and it does not. The internet is GREAT at this hotel! The big downside: In my thousands of miles (49,000 miles during the 2011-2012 school year) of travel, I've never been to a hotel so woefully inadequate on offering even a laughable breakfast. When I got there I asked the nice guy on duty about vending machines with snacks and he pointed towards the window. "We';re right next to the gas stations." Oh...kay....fine. And later I saw the machines were not stacked. And he was CORRECT: this motel is literally within minutes of two gas stations, and one has a Subway. It's also about a 3 to 4 minute walk to McDonald's. This is actually an easy hotel to find. The rooms were comfortable. Not dirty. Just in need of maybe a tad more repair but NOT BAD. Breakfast? The day I was there there were no rolls or anything. Coffee was out. And next to the coffee were two plastic jars of powdered creamer and sugar. I walked to McDonald's. AGain, it was a short walk and quite nice. BUT I do think when you stay at a motel they should at least have coffee and either donuts or some of those cheap pastries in plastic, whatever. This had nothing. I don't stay at hotels that don't offer at least coffee in the morning. This is NOT a huge investment to make: make sure there's coffee with some coffee in the morning and a supply of some cheap danishes, or even some bananas or envelopes of oatmeal. Whatever. But just being near gas stations and McDonald's is not enough. Would I stay here again? It was comfortable. Quite. A great value. Near gas stations and a McDs. But since there really is zero breakfast (at least when I was there) I have to give it an average rating (the bad points offset by the value). My advice? CALL and ask if they offer a breakfast and what is it. Coffee and something if guests want it is a minimum.
