We would highly recommend a stay at the Barretta Gardens Inn in Sonora California. Our stay was for two nights in the Sangiovese Suite. We found this B&B off trip advisor and found both the reviews and photos on the web site to be accurate. The Sangiovese room is a new addition, large spacious and a beautiful modern bathroom. I am not sure if we liked the tub or shower more. Every detail in the room was carefully planned. Daniel was our host as Astrid was out of town. Daniel made sure everything was taken care of and made two wonderful breakfests. Both the house and gardens are carefully attended. Because we visited in winter we did not get to use the outdoor space, but this area is never ending and would be spectacular on a warm summer evening. The location is just off the main street in a quiet neighborhood, a little far for walking into town unless you are up for a few miles round trip.

Spacious room with soaking tub in large sitting area surrounded by plants. Large bathroom with marble tile rain shower. All of the amenities including beautiful grounds with rock paths and sitting areas. Convenient location access to all needs in the area. Quiet and very comfortable. King size four poster bed. Excellent breakfast. More than the wonderful physical aspects is the personality of the owners. My vehicle was dissabled coming in. Danny drove me to my place of work, took my vehicle to a good shop and I did not have to worry about anything. He was concerned about me being alone without a vehicle and invited me in for Monday night football with all of the trimmings including dinner. I feel as I have gained a new friend and look forward to my return. Without a doubt the best place to stay in this area.

Everything was perfect. Just what you would expect form a bed and breakfast! Astrid was a lovely hostess and Denny's breakfast was wonderful. We really enjoyed the company of the other guests and the hosts at breakfast! The house and the rooms are very cute and every detail is been taken care of.

This is our favorite place to stay in the mother lode. The place is beautiful, clean, and romantic. The service is fantastic. We have stayed here several times and are always impressed with how pampered we by the wonderful owners Astrid and Danny. The breakfast is always delicious with fresh fruits and veggies, many of which come from their organic garden, and fresh eggs from their chickens that they have right there on the property. It's a great place to stay!

Room Tip: the Merlot is our favorite room

The Inn is in a great location and has such charming hosts, Astrid and Denny, that they almost seemed like old friends. The food at breakfast is fantastic and beautifully presented on fine china. Fresh fruit and homemade bread included. It truly felt like a home away from home. Beautiful gardens to stroll in. It's near enough to Yosemite and other great places without the overpriced rates.

This is a very high quality, yet affordable place to stay. They even grow their own vegetables. Victorian and contemporary decor and ambiance. First class.

This Inn is a perfect example of how great a B&B can be. We stayed for 3 nights in the Merlot Room. My husband can't climb stairs because of the arthritis in his knees, and this room had no stairs, with it's own private entrance. There are two other rooms here that would have also been without any steps. This room was really large, with lots of space for all of our stuff from an 11 day road trip. It was a beautiful, clean room, and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfasts were huge, and the kind that you can only get at a B&B - you will never find them on a restaurant menu. Everything was delicious. Each day was something different. Astrid, Danny, and Danny's daughter, Sherrie, were really wonderful - friendly, helpful, accommodating. We enjoyed having coffee brought to our room each morning. The living room, dining room, and front porch area were all beautiful and comfortable. Astrid was especially helpful with where to go in the area. She told us about Talulah's Restaurant in Sonora. We ate there two nights and really liked it. They give you your salad and the most incredible bread, drizzled with garlic, herbs and olive oil immediately, but the rest of your meal is a 20 minute wait. So they bring you more bread while you are waiting. Then you regret that you ate so much bread because the main course is so good.

Room Tip: I think the Merlot Room is the best.

What a gorgeous place. Sonora was the ideal place to stop off on the way to Yosemite and Barretta Gardens was the perfect retreat for us all to relax and get over our jet lag. Danny and Astrid were wonderful hosts - breakfast was fantastic and the kids will remember collecting eggs and "cat fishing" for a long time.
