“Great location and great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

Very nice setting and location. The gardens, according to my master gardening wife, were beautiful. We had a wonderful breakfast outside by the pool and could smell all of the flowers while eating a delicious breakfast.
The location is excellent. Two or three blocks from the main plaza so walking enabled us to imbibe in more wine than normal!

We stayed here for a couple of days. It is located a short walk away from the town square where all of the restaurants etc are. Wifi was acceptable and it had decent air con. Really nice gardens (we took out breakfasts outside for example) which might be a plus if you have some time to kill.

My main complaint was the price.

We ended up paying about 20% more per night for this small "traditional" room (without any wardrobe or TV), a small double bed and a cramped bathroom than we paid for a spacious 4 star hotel (with huge bed, amazing bathroom, views, storage facilities, great wifi, desk, arm chairs, TV, roof top heated pool, gym, bar etc etc) in a trendy area of Manhattan just a couple of days later.

It is a nice enough place, the service was friendly and attentive, but the price was just too much.

This inn is beautiful and a great value! The property and gardens are very well maintained with lovely amenities including a pool and hot tub. Our room was comfortable with many nice touches - fluffy towels and pillows and chocolates, too. Breakfast preparation sent delicious aromas throughout the inn and we enjoyed coffee on the porch. I highly recommend this inn.

Room Tip: Our room on the second floor was quiet, private, with lots of natural light.

This place is exactly what is says, set up like a Victorian house with loads of "period" pieces even down to the decanter of sherry for the guests to help themselves to! Donna, the owner goes out of her way to welcome you and the staff are excellent, Janet gave us a number of tickets and cards for free wine tasting offers and recommended some great places to visit. The garden and pool is a relaxing place to spend the early evening before walking 5 minutes to Sonoma Square where there are a number of bars and restaurants for your evening entertainment. For you wine lovers, there are 23 wine tasting rooms within walking distance, making this the ideal base for people on a wine tasting adventure.

Room Tip: We booked the queen room in the main house. The only thing we had to get used to was walking across...

We loved our stay here! We arrived much earlier then expected and were greeted very well. The staff (so sorry I can't remember her name!) helped tremendously by giving us great information and a wonderful itinerary that helped us plan out our day. While the décor is not 100% our taste with all the white wicker, etc., it is certainly what one would expect in a "Victorian" inn. Our room was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was simple, but perfect and catered to our preferences (eggs scrambled versus hardboiled, gluten free, etc.). The best part about this place is the beautiful gardens and yard. I could have stayed out there forever just soaking up the serenity and beauty of this place and I loved the proximity/short walk to the square. The hospitality there by the staff was very warm and we would love to come back. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for one night, and my daughters and significant others were in two other rooms. Pre-arrival communication was good (email and phone), and the place is really nice. Beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We loved our room in the main house, and the garden and tower rooms are also wonderful. Nice gardens, grounds, and decor in and out. House was built in 1870. Very comfortable, and we relaxed in the living room after dinner. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, staff and owner were delightful and informative. We loved being able to walk five minutes to the square for dinner. We hope to go back!

We greatly enjoyed the Victorian Garden Inn. The room was comfortable. The full breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit and cookies are available throughout the day. Sherry is available in the afternoon and evening.

The inn is located a few blocks from the plaza, which made wine tasting and getting home very convenient.

We liked it so much, we plan to stay there again.
