“A must when we're in Sonoma!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

Whenever we go "home" to Sonoma we make sure to have at least one meal at The Breakaway Cafe! We spent a few days there last week and my husband was at The Breakaway for breakfast on Wednesday, I met two friends there for lunch and three of us had dinner there on Friday evening! As always, the food was wonderful - the poached egg on spinach is a favorite as is the Beltane Ranch burger. Bob Rice and staff are friendly and welcoming.

“Basic Decor, Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

The Breakaway Cafe has typical diner ambiance and good food. It appears to be popular with locals as many of the patrons seemed to know one another.

We stopped by for breakfast and both had the corned beef hash with eggs. The corned beef was cooked from scratch and quite good. The service was prompt and courteous. We will return.

“Delicious, Healthy. Affordable Food with Great Presentation, Professional Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

The Breakaway Cafe is a "locals" favorite place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Off of Highway 12 and 10 minutes from the center of town, The Breakaway served grass-fed natural beef, steamed vegies and accommodated my gluten, dairy free meal needs without a whimper. Prices are affordable, unlike many of the restaurants in this beautiful, "Garden of Eden" - type town. Be prepared for an open, indoor setting with booths for seating. There is also a small bar with a few tables and chairs.

Tasty, comfortable, casual with food elegantly presented on the plate. An excellent dining experience for families or couples wanting a relaxed atmosphere but good food.

“Great steaks...good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2011

We are visting from the east coast and have been eating all sorts of mostly good food for 2 weeks. We stopped by the Breakaway based on the reviews as we headed back to Napa from Sonoma. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about but the steaks ( I had ribeye and my bride had the the flatiron) were delicious and cooked perfectly. The wedge salad was excellent, served on cold plates. Sautéed spinach was good. We asked for fries instead of the mashed potatoes as there are no baked on weeknights. My bride found them to be too crispy...I thought they were OK. The Breakaway is definitely more than a sandwich shop. I have to finish by saying the service was excellent.
