Description: Executive chef Armando Navarro's farm driven cuisine is a collection of earthy yet sophisticated, complex yet straightforward dishes that showcase the essence of seasonal produce. Chef Navarro sources his ingredients from local purveyors and nearby Sonoma farms, a commitment and dedication that is in line with El Dorado’s overall eco-friendly green initiatives.Navarro’s deeply satisfying cuisine can be enjoyed at El Dorado Kitchen. In the center of the main dining room, parties of up to 22 can gather around a 21-foot-long table fashioned from a single wood plank reclaimed from a Vermont bridge. This table is perfectly positioned to afford each diner a view of the artistic talents hard at work in the open kitchen. An outdoor courtyard allows diners to enjoy the beauty of Sonoma. Enjoy dinner under the fig trees and the clear Sonoma sky or take your lunch pool-side in your own private cabana or on one of the inviting day beds by the pool. We also offer casual dining in our lobby, nestled next to the glowing fireplace.

“January 4th Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We were traveling to Sonoma for the first time and staying at the Fairmont. We went to downtown Sonoma for dinner and walked around to see what the options were. Several things were closed given it was early January. A lot of people suggested a drink at the Swiss Hotel (which was closed) and dinner at the Girl and the Fig.

Despite most other places being slow, the Girl and the Fig and El Dorado kitchen were packed. After looking both over, we decided to have a drink at the Girl and the Fig and dinner at El Dorado Kitchen.

We were sat in the bar which was a great atmosphere. We split an appetizer and had a drink. We then decided to split the filet and got a side of truffle fries. The waitress actually advised us to get a half order which was more than enough. Filet was perfectly cooked and had a nice sauce. My wife is a french fry aficionado, and she said they were some of the best fries she has ever had. They were thin, with truffle oil and Parmesan shredded on top. Didn't need anything else.

The waitress also selected a really good and reasonable Cabernet for us. I have never heard of it but was great.

I feel like they had great service, well prepared food and excellent recommendations. I would say this was the best meal we had in wine country.

“Breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We ate there recently on a lovely, sunny winter morning. Not crowded and excellent service. Menu was a bit small and food portions were good. Food was not great. Coffee was strong and excellent.

“Delicious food, fantastic service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We dined here on our second night in Sonoma and really enjoyed the experience. Since the dining room looked crowded, we opted to stay in the lounge area, which was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The wait staff welcomed us warmly and sat us immediately. We had the Roasted Young Beets as the starter and it was very good. For the main dish, I ordered the Caramelized Scallops and it was scrumptious! The scallops were perfectly done! My boyfriend ordered the Prime NY Strip steak and it was wonderful. The beautifully-plated dessert, Pear Pain Perdu, tasted even better than it was described. The service was wonderful. Servers were personable, professional, and offered great tips. We would definitely return when we're in Sonoma.

“Favorite Restaurant from our Wine Country Trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We dined here on our last night in Sonoma at the recommendation of our hotel front desk staff and absolutely loved it! The service was great, the food was exceptional, and on a cold January night the atmosphere was elegant and cozy at the same time. The pumpkin ravioli was amazing and you need to try the truffle fries too! There is no lack of excellent food in the wine country but this one made the top the of our list.

“The best time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Lots of different foods to choose from, felt very elegant and fanciful. I would say I enjoyed this meal and it's tastings in the same way I enjoyed the French Laundry! What a great dining experience. Cant wait to go again.
