The restaurant is very romantic. The patio area is lovely. They seated us at a table next to a fountain. The water feature would have been ok except for the water spraying all over our table. We asked to be moved to another table. It took about 15 minutes before we were finally greeted by a waiter. We ordered a salad for 2 and 2 entrees. Approximately 25 minutes later we received our entrees. We decided not to ask about the missing salad. The food was excellent so we ordered desert. In the end we opted to pay in cash due to the slow service. Unfortunately I had left a package behind. It was a $17 gift bag that I was going to give a friend. I stopped by the following day to retrieve the gift bag. One of the waiters had drawn a picture on my gift bag. They didn't think we'd be coming back for it. Since the food is so good we suggest ordering takeout.

My husband and I ate at Della Santina's while on vacation. The restaurant was very accomodating and the service was terrific.
We ate in the courtyard which was romantic and lovely. Our dinners were both very good. We both had the pasta specials which were really delicious - see pictures. I would definitely try the Gnocchi Della Nonna for next time as it looked wonderful and is their specialty. My only complaint is that their bread was not very good. I tend to be picky about that - especially when eating at an Italian restaurant but otherwise everything was delicious. The price for dinner was very reasonable. All in all it was a very pleasurable meal without pretense. We would definitely go back. A nice little find in Sonoma.

was found right here in sleepy Sonoma.. and that's saying something considering we were in LA, LV, and SF before coming here!
We were greeted by a very nice Italian gentleman who I later found out was the owner himself. We witnessed him going from table to table and chatting with everyone.. I figure many of them must be repeat customers!
We got very nice table, shaded by the trellis and next to the water fountain.. Definitely ask to sit in the garden when you come! Beats any indoor dining hands down. The tables were actually in a courtyard so there was no street noise at all and you feel transported out of Sonoma into Tuscany!
My husband and I started with sharing an appetizer of Pomodori e Mozarella.. and it was the best mozarella I have ever tasted. For main courses I had the gnocchi.. Again, the best I have tasted anywhere. It was smooth and went well with the tomato basil sauce. The sauce itself was bursting with flavour and it is rightfully one of their signature dishes. My husband ordered the combination platter with duck, chicken and pork, which were all nicely done (I still preferred mine though!)
The wine list will blow you away and included wines not only from the locale (ie Sonoma Valley) but from all over the world. Our server was able to recommend a very good Italian red (the varietal escapes me at the moment) that paired well with our food.
All this for two thirds of the price that we would pay in SF.. Definitely worth the drive out!

My wife and I visited Della Santina's during our trip to Napa because we had seen it on Rachel Ray's $40 a day show. We were a bit early for our reservation and they welcomed us with open arms. We got maybe the best seat in the house, a 2 person table right next to the patio fountain. The service was amazing and the food was out of this world. We enjoyed the lasagna and spaghetti the first night and then the ravioli and special boar sauce pasta the second night. We had the same waitor both nights and he was almost excited to see us again. I definately recommend this restaurant and would travel from much further than Napa to eat here.
