After learning that my usual hotel (The Lodge at Sonoma) was completely booked, I stumbled upon the El Pueblo Inn in Sonoma. What a great find! The rooms were as spacious at The Lodge. The bathroom was airy, clean and light. Our beds (two queens) were amazingly comfortable! The only thing different between a cottage room at The Lodge and a Sonoma room at El Pueblo is the cost (and a fireplace). We saved about $175.00. This place is great! I highly recommend it as well at the girl and the fig for dinner!!!

“Good Bargain”

I was referred to the El Pueblo Inn by a frequent Sonoma visitor. After an exhaustive hotel search, I was intrigued by the low prices of the El Pueblo. I decided to give it a shot and booked a room. After my AAA discount, the average cost per night was about $120!! That is so cheap for wine country. The rooms were just fine. It's a Motel style place, but actually that worked fine for us. It was easy to get in and out of our room when we wanted to go anywhere. The place was CLEAN which is important to me. The rooms were quiet which I appreciated. I also really liked the lounge chairs in the room. It made it comfortable for relaxing with a bottle of wine after tasting all day. I think it's definitely well worth it to stay there. The location is just great.
I think my only complaint would be the continental breakfast wasn't all that great. However, considering it's free and the price we paid for the room, it was just fine.
I sure hope they don't raise their rates now that they're getting some good press. ;)

Stayed Feb 20-22/06 as the 1st part of our 20th anniversary getaway. Had a "Sonoma" room, apparently in the new part with a fireplace and at the end next to the outdoor hot tub and pool. Room was clean, large, and very comfortable bed (with lots of big pillows, great duvet). It is a very short drive to the town square and is perfect for launching a day of wine tasting at the wineries on the Glen Ellen side of Sonoma. Had a wonderful surprise with the included continental breakfast.....great selection of breads, pastries, muffins, fruits, juices, yogurts, cereals, coffee etc. The pool was just drained and getting repaired but we wouldn't have used it anyways. We did try out the hot tub and it was a very nice setting with gardens surrounding. If you are looking for a great place for dinner, try Meritage on the way to the town square. Fabulous food, busy, great atmosphere, great wines. Also tried Maya Maya, a Mexican restaurant and it was great. After a day of wine tasting we really needed a beer with dinner and they had excellent food and a couple of musicians playing.
Not much happening in Sonoma in February but had a great time and have no problem recommending El Pueblo.

Stayed here two nights in February 2006. Large room with fireplace. Great comfortable beds. Nice sitting area with two lounge chairs. Beautiful landscaping and a good pool area to sit in the sun. All in all, a real winner at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the El Pueblo Inn and found this updated motel to be a great value. The older building at the back was the original motel building and it's rooms are smaller than the newer building in front. However for the cheaper price they've been made over really nicely, comfy bed, fan/AC, etc.

The grounds are beautifully taken care of, plenty of trees, plants and flowers, especially the courtyard which also has a fountain. The pool area is great but a little noisy being right next to the road, but it's great in the evening in the hot tub with a bottle of local wine (office provides plastic cups and an opener).

Breakfast if decent, plenty of choices but no hot items of course being Continental style.

A tip for a great Mexican meal... ask the staff how to get to "Juanita Juanita". CHEAP!!
